QUALIFICATION AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree preferred, from an accredited college or University with a 3.00 GPA or higher.
Complies requirements of the Puerto Rico Department of Education.
The teacher shall possess the Puerto Rico Department of Education Certificate in the grade/subject that will be teaching.
Demonstrated leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students and parents.
The teacher must be willing to implement the goals and standards as established by the LEAP Social Enterprise Board of Trustees and the Puerto Rico Department of Education.
Exercise good judgment and confidentiality with sensitive information.
Possess excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.

Chief Academic Officer / Director of Curriculum and Instruction
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assume responsibility for the instruction of assigned students in designated subject area(s) in accordance with the course of study approved by the Board of Trustees
Remain abreast of current developments, new trends, and contemporary interpretations of subject matter content in assigned area(s) including but not limited to in-service workshops, personal days, etc.
Remain abreast of current developments and interpretations in methodology of teaching in the subject area(s) assigned.
Motivate students towards mastery in designated subject matter by remaining abreast and implementing knowledge in child and/or adolescent psychology and social trends that may affect attitudes and willingness of the students to learn.
Maintain lesson plans that meet the individual needs, interest, and abilities ofstudents based on curriculum and available resources within LEAP.
Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriateto the maturity and interests of students.
Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals andobjectives.
Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provideprogress reports as required
Implement instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate formeeting stated objectives
Work with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction to diagnose learningskills of students on a regular basis
Meet with colleagues and parents to share best practices that will benefit student achievement.
Develop and implement classroom rules to establish an environment for learning.
Assist in creating a positive school climate by enforcing school rules, and administrative regulations.
Assist in curriculum development and in the selection of educational materials.
Assist with the supervision of behavior in the hallways, school grounds, and at school activities for the safety and well-being of students, personnel, and visitors.
Attend team and staff meetings as scheduled, and serve voluntarily on staff committees
Attend parent-teacher conferences.
Develop partnerships with other schools that mirror the LEAP curriculum.Assist with student placement and assist with ordering curriculum materials.
Development of teacher committees to assist with the implementation of school-wide events and thematic units.
Provide mechanisms for continual feedback from students, faculty, staff and parents through surveys, discussions, etc.
The teacher shall be responsible for other duties assigned by the Director of Curriculum and Instruction, the Chief Academic Officer, and the Lead Person.
OTHER DUTIES
Performs any other related duties as assigned by Lead Person, Chief Academic Officer, or the Board.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Ten month contracted position (Academic Year)
LENGTH OF WORKDAY:
7.5 hours
EVALUATION:
Three times during the Academic Year according to state statute and rule and Board policy.

APPOINTMENT:
The teacher must be recommended by the Lead Person and approved by the Board of Trustees.
