Who we areNeros is transforming a defense industry mired in costly, behemoth machinery-to circumvent a looming vulnerability gap, to give dismounted soldiers a fighting chance against tanks, and ultimately, to get as many humans off the battlefield as possible. While consumer technology is evolving by bounds on the smaller-cheaper-better path, U.S. defense technology wallows in the large, centralized, and wildly expensive paradigm. Our air, land, and sea machinery budget is staggering; yet these large assets can still be vulnerable to very small weapons. When swarm technology comes into its own, the asymmetry will escalate. Nowhere is the pattern more glaring than in small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS)-drones. What you will be doingAs a Mechanical Engineer at Neros, you will own key components of our products, starting from the conceptual design phase all the way through production. This is a dynamic and exciting role at a rapidly growing startup and will report directly to the Head of Engineering. Other responsibilities include:Own all aspects of hardware design to optimize for performance, manufacturability and costPerform detailed design trades using 3D modeling software, FEA tools, and engineering first principlesDesign, develop and implement production tooling and equipmentDevelop and refine process documentation including build instructions, test and validation procedures, health and safety standards, and mBOMsParticipate in design reviews to drive design for manufacturing (DFM)Create, maintain, and communicate detailed production plans and schedules to relevant teamsAnalyze and resolve manufacturing issues and non-conformancesDevelop, mentor, and train peers and colleaguesYou should have the followingBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field3+ years of experience in fast paced engineering/manufacturing environmentsAbility to solve engineering problems through first principles thinkingExperience with a CAD software such as Soliworks or NXExperience developing, designing, and improving tooling to optimize manufacturing/production linesOverseen introduction and implementation of new products and manufacturing capabilitiesWe're an equal opportunity employer.
