GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
Under the direct supervision of the Medical Director and/or Nurse Manager/Nurse Coordinator performs all tasks delegated to assist in the evaluation, management, and treatment of patients.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* To review the daily schedule of patients and be certain that all appropriate preparations are in place to facilitate efficient flow for the day.
* Accompanies patients from the reception area into the examination room and prepare patients for excisions, and/or physical examination.
* Set-up for skin biopsies and surgical procedures.
* To ensure appropriate stocking of all examination rooms with supplies, requisition all materials necessary for efficient patient care. Order medical supplies and maintain inventory.
* To coordinate practice activities with MD and Nurse Manager/Nurse Coordinator to ensure appropriate level and quality of services including maintaining supplies and equipment.
* Performs complex troubleshooting for resolution of patient and provider issues
* Participate in all quality assurance activities in the department, with respect to patient care.
* Complies with HIPAA laws.
* Participates in meetings of clinical and administrative personnel as requested.
* Maintain and care for equipment including preparing instruments for central processing
* Assist with more complex procedures; provide wound care and postoperative instructions.
* Obtain and record vital signs when needed.
* Documents all contacts with patients in Epic, under the supervision of an MD and/or Nursing Staff.
* Assists with orientation and training of new staff
* Organize/Coordinate special projects as needed
* All other duties assigned.
Qualifications

Graduate of an approved MGH Medical Assistant Program or equivalent required (i.e phlebotomy, CNA, EMT)
EXPERIENCE:
Preferred: Minimum 1 year experience as a Medical Assistant in a comparable setting preferred
