Position Overview: Responsible for filling in for all clerical positions during vacations or illness of clerical staff. Flexible duties to meet needs of department that may change daily.

Job Description :
Provides coverage for release of information following departmental HIPPA guidelines.
Provides rotating backup coverage for telephones as assigned. Answers phones within 3 rings, identifying self and department. Communicates clearly, tactfully, and accurately.
Pulls charts as needed for committees, studies, and special requests. Uses chart locator for each record removed from file. Labels pulled records for ability to locate.
Researches daily new medical record number assigned list for duplicate number assignment.
Consolidates medical record numbers in computer system. Corrects paper records as required. Logs in duplicate numbers in control book. All materials prepared on a timely basis.
Pulls incomplete records for physicians. All materials prepared on a timely basis, to allow availability for physician as requested.
Retrieves all records appearing on incomplete list, indicating what record is not located. Maintain a 95% pull rate. Initials and dates each pull sheet.
Attends weekly clinical conference, interdisciplinary treatment planning meetings and family conference to communicate pertinent information regarding patient's health needs. Provides education and actively participates in individual treatment planning.
Provides coverage on census desk, assembly, analysis and reanalysis. Provides transcription clerical coverage as needed.
Performs audits/departmental quality reviews of clerical processes. Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings.
Completes birth certificates using Avis computer system.
Reviews and completes hazardous form annually.
EDUCATION Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma. HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN: 1-2 years recent experience in hospital medical records department with competence in various clerical positions.

Pay Range is $32.05 to $40.56 / hour
The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location.
