Description Job Summary
The Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) is primarily responsible for selling mortgage loans to customers and taking applications for all types of mortgage loans offered by the Company, additional responsible for cultivating consumer and business relationships through outside sales meetings with builders, realtors, and consumers. This position answers customer mortgage inquiries, analyzes the financial needs of the customer, educates, and advises the customer on loan product options. Ensures the performance of all duties in accordance with the company's policies and procedures, all U.S. state and federal laws and regulations, wherein the company operates.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develops new business through a variety of means including, but not limited to, visiting builder and realtor offices, connecting with CPAs, attorneys, and local business groups, attending open house events, trade shows and sales conferences, to promote Company products and foster relationships, soliciting personal and professional referrals, utilize marketing materials, direct mail prospects, and other sources that derive from special marketing campaigns. Responds to all leads and customer inquiries in a professional and timely manner. Interviews applicants and requests specified information required for loan applications. Enters application information into the loan operating system. Meets with borrowers to analyze applicant's financial status, credit, and property evaluation to determine available mortgage loan products that best fit their needs. Obtains required information necessary to submit a loan for processing. Keeps the applicant up to date on loan status as well as communicating pricing and rate lock options. Manages loan pipeline with all team members to meet company efficiency standards. Observes and stays informed of developing trends in the industry and remains knowledgeable of changing guidelines, regulations, and business practices. Attends training and seminars required to obtain appropriate state licenses and maintains those licenses. Demonstrates knowledge and adherence to EEO policy and all state and federal regulations. Maintains minimum production standards. Complies with organizational standards, training requirements, policies, and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. Position Requirements
Education High school diploma or equivalent required, bachelor's degree preferred NMLS loan originator license required Continuing education classes required by licensing authority Continuing training class required by the company to meet CFPB requirements Experience Minimum of one year of experience in the mortgage industry Functional/Technical Skills Working knowledge of various mortgage products and underwriting guidelines Working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to mortgage lending Effective written and verbal communication skills Demonstrates a commitment to quality customer service Strong attention to detail Well organized with the ability to multi-task Treats people with respect Works ethically and with integrity Moderate PC skills (MS Office products) and experience with mortgage origination systems Ability to work flexible and varying work schedules to meet the needs of the business Benefits
