Overview:
Responsible for orientation, education of staff and the continuing education of the employees related to general health care. Implement educational programs and projects. Assist the nursing leadership identify learning needs, design programs/courses and learning experiences to address these needs. Participate in Quality Assurance activities of the department and collaborate in identifying and addressing educational issues.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate and assist the nursing administrative and leadership staff in identifying, defining, documenting, implementing, and maintaining the standards of health care and the education of the standards. Plan, design and implement classes/programs and appropriate learning activities for the nursing and other clinical staff. Research best in class current practices, procedures and practices and develop training programs to incorporate these aspects into the hospital. Work to create improvement in health care practices at the hospital and communicate changes. Evaluate and redesign educational programs based on learners evaluation, peer critiques, and the achievement of behavioral outcomes. Review, critique, recommend books, and other software needed to provide and supplement educational programs. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelors Degree in a Health Care related field. Nursing preferred. Experience: Minimum three (3) years as a Health Care practitioner or Nurse or related field. Knowledge and Skills: Teach classes/courses using the theories of adult education. Maintain health care expertise and knowledge of best in class practices. Maintain affiliations with an appropriate professional organization. Ability to fully utilize BHMCs electronic record systems, equipment and other healthcare and billing systems relevant to this position. Licenses, Certifications: Current New York State licensure as a registered professional nurse. BCLS Instructor Certified. Physical Requirements: Position requires prolonged periods of standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day. Position will be required to stoop, bend, lift, and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
