The Idaho State Department of Agriculture is currently recruiting for a seasonal, temporary Watercraft Inspection Station Supervisor located in Salmon, ID area. Applications are being accepted now and will be reviewed periodically. The successful candidate will start working May 17, 2024 and continue through September 30, 2024. Example of Duties: This position will supervise the boat inspectors at the North Fork inspection station in Salmon, Idaho. This job is part of the agency's statewide invasive species prevention program and the supervisor will be responsible for examining and inspecting watercraft to prevent the spread of zebra/quagga mussels and other Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) from infested states. The use of policy and systematic procedures is of the utmost importance. Collecting, documenting and properly storing samples; following proper sanitation protocol; and the ability to read maps are all essential skills. The ability to keep accurate records is required for such information as inspection locations, mileage, samples, and time spent conducting an inspection. The position will use an established protocol to inspect watercraft and conduct hotwashes on high-risk conveyances; conducting quality control activities at watercraft inspection stations; setting up and taking down portable traffic signs on daily basis; and properly entering detailed watercraft data on an electronic inspection form. Requirements: The successful applicant must be able to fulfill the following duties: Ability to supervise boat inspection specialists Good communication skills Ability to pay attention to detail when conducting watercraft inspections Work in various types of weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, rain, etc.) Ability to lift 50 lbs. with or without a reasonable accommodation Ability to bend and crawl underneath watercraft, when necessary and with or without a reasonable accommodation Possibility of working evenings, weekends, or long hours Valid driver's license Must be 18 years of age or older Desired Qualifications Aquatic biology, ecology or field inspection experience Experience with pressure washers SPECIAL NOTIFICATION: This non-classified position is exempt from classified state service and the rules of the Division of Human Resources and the Idaho Personnel Commission.
