You shall be responsible for establishing and implementing objective standards of care and conduct that are to be followed by practitioners of patient care in accordance with all statutory obligations and rights afforded to patients as defined in the New York State Department of Health Regulations, and which are in accordance with all applicable standards, practices, policies and procedure of the Hospital, Joint Commission, and other regulatory agencies or accrediting bodies that govern the operations of the Hospital and shall develop mechanisms to monitor the ongoing compliance with all such standards, practices, policies, procedures and regulations.
Responsibilities:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: PROFESSIONAL SERVICES: You shall perform the duties and shall have the responsibilities that are customarily incumbent upon and performed by a faculty member and oncologist at a teaching hospital, which may include:
One four-hour outpatient session each week at an OBH outpatient location. Continue to provide on-call services to Kingsbrook. Expanding community awareness of the service quality and scope of capabilities available at the One Brooklyn Health System. ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICE: In addition to your patient care activities, you shall provide administrative and supervisory services as requested by the Chief of Hematology & Oncology. You will assist the clinical leadership with the operation of the service, and your administrative and supervisory duties and responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to:
Actively supporting the goals for the Central Brooklyn Cancer Collaborative, specifically by increasing community physician participation in the initiative and promoting our services menu in your medical office. Demonstrating leadership in the delivery of care that complies w1th all quality initiatives, with special emphasis on the Quality Incentive Programs (QIP) with which we participate. General administrative functions and the supervision of professional and technical personnel within your division. Timely completion of all reporting and compliance requirements, including but not limited to, physician time studies, medical record reviews, coding queries and compliance certifications. Timely completion and closure of patient charts is mandatory and frequent delinquencies are cause for formal disciplinary action. The compliance of the service with all applicable Federal, state and local laws, ordinances, bylaws, rules and regulations, and policies and procedures established by all governmental agencies. TEACHING SERVICES: Active teaching and management of fellows, residents and medical students in our teaching programs ("Program"): Ensuring that the Hospital maintains accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and its Residency Review Committee. Updating the evaluation process for individual resident performance and leading the regular evaluation and annual promotion of residents, Managing the regular clinical competency evaluations of the residents and fellows. Representing the Program on Hospital committees, as assigned by the Department Chair. Assisting with the promotion of the Program by becoming involved in various community and professional activities as necessary to meet the needs of the Program. Participating in research and scholarly activities to enhance the academic reputation of the Program.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of a residency in Internal Medicine and a Fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology. Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Medical Oncology. Licensed in the State of New York to practice Medicine.
