Description Surgery O rderly works under the direct supervision of the nursing staff and may include the following tasks ; help set up operating room. Prepare and transport patients for surgery. Adjust lights and equipment. Knowledge of equipment function sufficient to be able to determine operational adequacy and to distinguish between operator error and equipment malfunction. Knowledge of applicable sanitary, infection control, and safety standards. Skill in cleaning specialized equipment. Managing the inventory, keeping track of when certain items run out and placing orders accordingly Requirements Transporting patients using stretchers or wheelchairs, making sure they are safe and comfortable at all times Assisting in the lifting or other manipulation of patients to assist with observation or examination Cleaning and disinfecting equipment and tools to prevent infection or the spread of disease Assisting with a patient's mobility, positioning, and transporting patients from one place to another Performing cleaning duties, keeping records and monitoring patients before or after procedures Is able to perform all assignments within the safety parameters. Ability to lift and move equipment instruments and patient care equipment up to 25 lbs. Must have good telephone manners and problem-solving skills. Is able to perform bending, lifting and tactile differentiation, e.g. temperature, moisture.
