GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Payroll Accountant is responsible for the preparation of financial records and reconciling and analyzing accounts related to payroll. The Payroll Accountant will be a proactive member of the accounting team and will look to help drive operational efficiencies while maintaining a strong control environment. Will also collaborate across several groups of the business to support both short- and long-term business objectives and ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
PRIMARY RESPONSABILITIES
Maintains a complete record of payroll accounting documents.
Maintains payroll accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions.
Posts payroll payments by recording transactions in the general ledger
Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
Maintain up to date subsidiaries and schedules related to payroll accruals such as vacations, sick, health insurance and other payroll related accumulations.
Assists with the maintenance of the accounting and payroll software.
Investigates and resolves any irregularities or inquiries.
Assisting in general financial management and analysis for general ledger accounts.
Collaborate with Accounts Payable to code payroll related invoices from benefits and tax vendors.
Biweekly payroll processing of settlement and other occasional payroll payments if required.
Biweekly payment processing of 401k employee withholding and employer match.
Prepares monthly bank reconciliations for payroll accounts.
Identify and provide detailed and thorough explanations for variances between actual results and forecasts/budgets.
Ensures payroll accounting activities follow Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal policies and procedures.
Maintains financial security by adhering to internal controls.
Prepares monthly balance sheet schedules for payroll related accounts.
Prepares monthly intercompany reconciliations related to payroll transactions.
Compiling, analyzing, and reporting financial data related to payroll and other areas as necessary.
Support month-end and year-end close process.
Assists in the audit process by providing information to the external auditors and answering their inquiries.
Maintains confidence and protects operations by keeping payroll and financial information confidential.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops.
Identifies opportunities to improve financial processes.
Ensures compliance with financial guidelines and relevant legal regulations.
Able to review and validate payroll reports such as quarterly and yearly reports including W2 forms.
Contributes to the accounting and organization objectives by accomplishing related results as needed.
Effectively handles new assignments and projects outside scope of core responsibilities.
Contributes to a positive and rewarding culture, promoting an environment of collaboration and teamwork.
Promotes the Company's mission, vision, objectives, and strategies, offering and receiving feedback, and leading others.
Complies with all Company policies and administrative processes.
Supports the Senior Accounting Manager in other functions as deemed necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
Minimum 4 years of Accounting experience in a payroll related position.

Up-to date with accounting and payroll laws and regulations locally and multi-state
Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel, including but not limited to VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables and other financial formulas
Proficiency in payroll software and payroll solutions providers such as ADP and Workday with ability to support payroll software updates and/or special projects such as implementations or transitions.
Knowledge of all other Microsoft Office programs.
Fully bilingual with strong professional communication skills, both written and verbal in Spanish and English.
