SUMMARY:
The Payroll and Benefits Specialist is responsible for processing the payroll and benefits administration of the organization. This includes monitoring and maintaining accurate payroll and benefit records, maintaining employee records, processing payroll and benefit payments, and providing customer service to employees regarding payroll and benefit issues. The specialist must ensure payroll and benefit compliance with applicable laws and regulations and provide accurate and timely reports to management. This position requires excellent customer service, organizational, and problem-solving skills. The individual performing these tasks should be an ADP expert, able to expertly assist in managing employee data within this platform.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Specifically tasked with processing the company's semi-monthly payroll each period, including maintaining/updating necessary payroll data in the company HRIS. Generally, responsible for administering payroll and benefits for the company.Ensure payroll and benefits policies and plans comply with applicable Federal, State and Local laws and regulations.Perform data entry and maintain accurate employee records.Reconcile employee payroll deductions and contributions.Process payroll payments and direct deposits.Answer employee inquiries and provide timely support.Assist in preparation of reports and analysis related to payroll and benefits administration.Assist with annual payroll and benefit record keeping and insurance audit reviews.Set-up/manage multi-state payroll-related tax accounts and reporting.Under the direction of the VP of HR, help manage the administration of health, dental and other benefit group plans.Participate in Employee New Hire Training with regard to payroll, timekeeping, and benefit enrollment.As needed, develop, and help implement policies and procedures related to payroll and benefits.Participates in developing department goals and objectives.Performs benefits administration, including claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment and communicating benefits information to employees.Participates in HR & administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings as needed.Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database.May be asked to help in other HR-related duties, in support of the organization.Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor. SKILLS AND/OR QUALIFICATIONS Strong knowledge of payroll and benefits administration regulations and proceduresVery proficient in ADP payroll and benefits softwareExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsHigh accuracy and attention to detailExtremely well organized and methodical in the approach to problem solving. Able to successfully prioritize tasks.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applicationsAbility to work independently and in a team environment.The ability to analyse and present information in such a way that is understood by everyone within the organization irrespective of title. CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS CCP or SHRM-CP preferred. EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree preferred.7-10 years directly related Payroll and Benefits Administration experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Must have min. 3 years solid ADP experience. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards. Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.Job may require long periods of sitting and/or standing and typing using a standard keyboard.Must be able to communicate clearly in English.
