DescriptionThis position has up to a $5,000 sign on bonus available.The staff Physical Therapist (PT) is involved with direct patient care for traditional outpatient, outpatient pediatrics, acute, and swing bed (skilled) clients. The PT will abide by all responsibilities as outlined by their employment agreement with SMMC.The staff Physical Therapist (PT) is a licensed professional who evaluates and treats individuals of all ages, from newborns to the very oldest, who have medical problems or other health-related conditions, illnesses, or injuries that limit their abilities to move and perform functional activities as well as they would like in their daily lives. The PT examines each individual, develops a Plan of Care (POC), uses treatment techniques to promote the ability to move, reduce pain, restore function, prevent disability/ loss of mobility, and adjusts the therapy techniques as needed. The PT is also responsible for consulting with the patient/responsible person, the patient's medical provider and other agency personnel regarding the POC. The physical therapy services are provided in accordance with provider's referral and as defined by the physical therapy standards of practice. In addition, the PT may develop fitness and wellness-oriented community programs to promote healthier and more active lifestyles. The PT performs all duties in a professional and ethical manner, collaborating with the other members of the health care team, ensuring quality patient care.RequirementsThe therapist must be a graduate of an accredited physical therapy program at either a baccalaureate level or higher depending on the year of graduation. New graduates are eligible; however, experience is preferred.Must have a current Idaho Physical Therapist license, and must complete necessary CEUs required by the state of Idaho. Must maintain a current BLS certification. Membership in the APTA is preferred but not required.To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer knowledge along with ability to use search engines, Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, and Excel. Prior experience with the use of EPIC documentation system is helpful.
