Position Title: MENTAL HEALTH PRIMARY THERAPIST

Reports to: CLINICAL SUPERVISOR

Department: CLINICAL

General Description

Responsibilities include providing clinical services to the clients of Victory Bay who are diagnosed with a mental

health disorder. Therapist will assist with the development of coping skills and emotional regulation. Therapist

will be responsible for a minimum of 20 - 30 hours of direct client care which consists of a variety of group

and individual sessions on a weekly basis. Therapist is expected to meet with clients on caseload on a weekly

basis. Therapists are expected to make consistent contact with family or support member.

Tasks & Responsibilities

A. Essential Duties
• Assess the counseling needs of the client.
• Assessing client for substance abuse and mental health diagnosis using DSM, PHQ-9 and Columbia

Scale criteria in determining appropriate level of care based on ASAM and DSM criteria.
• Review previous records that are relevant to the current treatment episode.
• Preparing and providing the mental health counseling and co-occurring portions of the client

treatment plan
• Development of the client discharge/continuum of care plan to ensure movement to the appropriate

levels of care.
• Documenting all client records, counseling and education services, assessments, reassessments,

referrals and follow-up in the client's clinical record.
• Provide coordination of support services for the client/family and record the services provided in the

client's clinical record.
• Contact and coordination with referral sources, (i.e. legal, school, employer, etc.)
• Facilitate needed interventions for crisis-orientated issues utilizing a multi-disciplinary team

approach for assigned clients.
• Facilitate group sessions.
• Documenting: Discharge, Individual Sessions, Weekly Calls, Level of care changes, group sessions and

treatment plans.

B. Additional Duties

1. Assists and covers other staff when necessary to maintain high productivity and efficiency in the

department.

2. As the company continues to grow, additional responsibilities that are essential for the department to

be successful will be assigned accordingly.

Key Performance Indicators

1. Documentation of Individual and Group Therapy Notation Interface within 48 hours. Level of Service

Report is reviewed on a weekly basis to indicate therapist efficiency at documentation.

2. Group Auditing Procedure conducted to ensure efficiency of following group curriculum and

ensuring client skill building for substance use and mental health needs.

3. Completion of Client Treatment Planning within 30 days of initial evaluation/assessment.

4. Ensuring quality of care is met with use of evidence-based treatment and utilization of outcome-

based data to reduce symptomatic response of client co-occurring conditions.

5. Chart Auditing conducted monthly to ensure efficiency of following clinical notation standards.

Equipment, Tools & Machines
• Use of computer, telephone, and other office equipment such as a printer and fax.
• Use of company network and email domain.

Working Conditions
• Air conditioned and well-illuminated office environment and outdoor environment. • May have several responsibilities at once. Interaction with other is constant and can be interruptive. • Work may be stressful at times due to high level workflow. • Availability to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays, and evenings as is required to comply with the purpose of the job and accommodate client needs. • Participates in educational training, orientations, or compliance programs as needed to maintain competency. • If you must leave your employment with our company, we request employee's to give us at least 30 days resignation notice in writing.

• Enthusiastic self-starter operating with sustained energy and showing great initiative.
• Comfort working with a diverse base of support, including members, employers, providers, colleagues,

community leaders, volunteers, non-profit organizations, vendors, etc.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to read, write, spell in English legibly

and without excessive grammatical or communication errors.
• Talk and hear both by person and by telephone; ability to speak clearly and effectively using proper

grammar before patients, employees and business partners, among others.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Accepts constructive criticism well in an open and non-defensive manner.
• Ability to manage conflicting priorities. Ability to maintain a positive work ethic and a congenial

attitude in the face of a high-pressure environment.
• Ability to function independently and with flexibility.

• Occasional lifting of moderately heavy office supplies; ability to lift supplies for community events,

trade shows, conferences, and other marketing opportunities applicable to the organization; ability to

lift, push or pull up to 25lbs.
• Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods of time.
• Must have strong computer skills to meet Microsoft Office and Electronic Health Record software

requirements.

Qualifications

Education:
• Associate licensed therapist required
• Fully licensed, preferred

Experience:
• 1-3 years' experience working in a clinical setting with individuals diagnosed with a mental health

disorder.
• Individual Therapy
• Group Therapy

Preferred certifications:
• Current CPR Certification
• Narcan Certified
