Program Coordinator- Nutritional Gardens Program, Global Health Location: San Juan, PUERTO RICO Puerto Rico Project HOPE is an international NGO of more than 500 engaged employees and hundreds of volunteers who work in more than 25 countries, responding to the world's most pressing global health challenges. We have helped build hundreds of health programs from the ground up and responded to humanitarian crises worldwide. POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for coordination and implementation of the MCS Foundation Nutritional Gardens program and supporting the Addressing Diabetes in Post-Hurricane Puerto Rico program. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Develops work plans and coordinates the day-to-day implementation of the MSC Foundation Nutritional Gardens program, in collaboration with assigned Project HOPE staff. 2. Directly implements Nutritional Gardens program work plan and related activities: Identifies and procures materials and resources needed to successfully implement the nutritional gardens program within budget Develops and supports implementation of the health education program component Coordinates with HOPE staff and partners to ensure timely completion of program objectives Supports data collection and writing of donor and summary reports on project outcomes 3. Under the direction of the Diabetes Program Manager, supports supervision and implementation of health education sessions and program activities through the Addressing Diabetes in Post-Hurricane Puerto Rico program: Observes and provides mentoring and support to facilitators during implementation of health education sessions Supports partners to ensure recruitment and retention of patient participants meets requirements Assists with preparation of materials and logistics for program activities including health education sessions, graduation sessions, and data collection activities Provides health education and coordination support for public health events such as health fairs Supports implementation of the Cold Chain project and related educational sessions on Cold Chain Management in coordination with assigned Project HOPE staff Attends meetings and supports positive relationships with key partners in the governmental, non-governmental and private sectors as needed 4. Maintains regular communications with Diabetes Program Manager and facilitates communications between the Diabetes Program Manager and the field: Collaborates with participating partners, clinic staff, and other stakeholder groups to implement program activities according to the work plan and maintain the Diabetes Program Manager up-to-date regarding progress and obstacles Collects and submits data on program activity to inform progress reports 5. Other duties as assigned. PREREQUISITES: 1. Bachelor's degree in a nursing or public health field required. Master's degree in a related field preferred. 2. Minimum 2 years public health program implementation experience. 3. Superb inter-personal and written communications skills. 4. Self-starter, high-energy individual with strong facilitation and problem-solving skills. 5. Minimum 2 year diabetes, nutrition, or health education experience preferred. 6. Ability to live and work in Puerto Rico 7. English and Spanish language proficiency required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be mobile in an office environment and able to use standard office equipment, must be able to communicate in verbal and written form, and must be able to conduct field visits including travel and work in austere post-disaster conditions. The nutritional gardens component will additionally incorporate occasional work in a hot and humid outdoor environment, stooped or sitting positions related to typical small-scale gardening activities and tools. Physical demands: While international travel is not a regular part of this job position, programmatic needs may require it intermittently. Project HOPE employees may be required to travel or work in countries where working conditions are classified as "hardship." SDL2017
