The Psychiatric NP will provide behavioral health treatment for a wide-variety psychiatric disorders and help with all aspects of patient care including diagnosis, treatment, collaboration and consultations.Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Responsibilities:Assesses the patient's general mental health condition by collecting medical histories, administering comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and identifying issues that may be affecting the patient's state of mental health.Interprets and integrates data to determine preliminary diagnosis and creates an individualized therapeutic plan for mental health problems and psychiatric disorders based on evidence-based standards of care and practice guidelines.Prescribes psychotropic drugs and related medications to treat symptoms of psychiatric disorders and improve functional health status based on clinical indications of a patient's status, including results of diagnostic and lab tests.Identifies, measures, and monitors clinical and related behavioral outcomes to determine the effectiveness and appropriateness of the plan of care.Educates patients and /or family as to the nature of the psychiatric condition and provides appropriate instructions on proper intervention and treatment.Collaborates with the psychiatrists and other staff members in the team in managing acute and long-term medical and psychiatric/mental health needs of patients.Documents medical history and treatment plans effectively, concisely and accurately.
