Responsibilities The Community Accountant is responsible for general ledger accounting, monthly financial reporting, cash management, disbursement approval and annual budget preparation for a portfolio of client community associations. The Community Accountant is the primary interface with community managers, community Boards of Directors and real estate developers on financial matters. Responsibilities include the following: Monthly close, including accrual entries, and publication of financial reports including financial notes and a variance analysis versus budget Identifying billing, A/R and A/P issues and resolving with internal service groups Forecasting cash flow and preparing a periodic funding analysis for developing communities Annual community budget preparation with recommendations to the community manager and client Boards Review and approval of vendor invoices and disbursement requests Bank and investment account reconciliations for non-banking partner accounts Cash management and consultation Serving as a financial liaison for community managers, community Boards and other Shared Services team members Answering questions and providing information for external auditors and tax return preparers. Plus other work-related tasks as needed Qualifications Accounting degree from a 4-year accredited college / university Prior work experience in accounting / bookkeeping a plus Real estate / property management industry experience a plus Hands on experience with mid-tier accounting software applications a plus Excellent computer skills including spreadsheet software Excellent grasp of basic accounting theory and methods of accounting (accrual, cash and modified cash) Strong organizational and prioritizing skills Strong interpersonal/communication (written and verbal) skills Ability to work efficiently in a dynamic, challenging, high change/growth environment Ability to follow established standard operating procedures and meet deadlines Pay and Benefits: $60,000 to $70,000, depending on education and experience.
