Overview:
Assesses patient/family health problems and resources, takes a leadership role in the development, implementation and outcomes evaluation of a plan for nursing care provided by the nursing team. Provides technical nursing care and interventions to designated patient populations.
This position requires providing service to patient population in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served.
This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of San Gabriel Valley Medical Center. It is expected that the employee demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee shall support San Gabriel Valley Medical Centers strategic plan and the goals and direction of the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP).
Responsibilities:
Provides local wound care as ordered Applies dressings as ordered or as appropriate to the type of Participates in conferences involving care provided to patients. Coordinates issues related to individualized care to other health disciplines in the unit. Documents nursing interventions using the FOCUS charting Demonstrates knowledge of procedures and post-care. Educates patients and their families about care related concerns. Follows established protocols for patients at high risk for falls and skin Follows appropriate Code Blue notification Functions in a Code Blue quickly and calmly providing CPR, administering and documenting medications/interventions Effectively prioritizes clinical interventions and Communicates significant changes in patients condition/status in a timely Understands actions, side-effects, contra-indications of drugs. Follows five rights of medication Adheres to medication policies, practices and Administers medication, intravenous therapy and fluid management only on physician request and Obtains necessary training prior to initial equipment use. Assures equipment is in operating order prior to Differentiates between patient complications and equipment malfunction. Participates in all regulatory education and survey activities. Uses the following equipment in accordance with manufacturers operating instructions, including but not limited to: IV Pump Glucoscan PCA Pump Tube Feeding Pump Chest Tube Suction Defibrillator Other duties as asssigned
Qualifications:
EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE Graduate of a RN School of Nursing
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Bilingual (English/Spanish/Vietnamese/Chinese) preferred Computer skills
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS Current California RN License
