Job Responsibilities:
Patient Monitoring: Step down RNs monitor patients' vital signs, assess their conditions, and track their progress.
They recognize any changes in a patient's status and respond promptly.
Medication Administration: Step down RNs administer medications as prescribed, including IV medications and other treatments.
They ensure proper dosage and monitor patients for any adverse reactions.
Wound Care: Step down nurses often provide wound care for patients who require dressing changes or wound assessments.
Collaboration: They collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to develop and adjust patient care plans.
Effective communication is crucial to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Patient Education: Step down RNs educate patients and their families about the patient's condition, treatment plan, and any necessary self-care measures after discharge.
Technical Skills: They may operate and monitor medical equipment, such as cardiac monitors, ventilators, and infusion pumps.
Critical Thinking: Step down nurses must possess strong critical thinking skills to assess patients' conditions, anticipate potential complications, and make quick decisions in emergency situations.
Documentation: Accurate and thorough documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes is a critical aspect of the job.
Required Qualifications:
1-year recent (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent experience
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
License, Certification, Registration
Registered Nurse License (in the state where care is provided)
Basic Life Support
Advanced Cardiac Life Support
Experience in Cardiac Rhythm Recognition
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field.
Certification: Basic Life Support , Advanced Cardiac Life Support
