POSITION SUMMARY: The International Regulatory Compliance Specialist is responsible for the verification and final approval of technical product information in compliance with all applicable international regulations and customer requirements. Such information includes product labels, product specifications, certification documents, and regulatory letters. The International Regulatory Compliance Specialist will be responsible for researching, reporting, and working with third-party labeling consultation on applicable regulations to ensure international finished product compliance. The candidate will actively apply knowledge of regulations to assist in internal product development, marketing, operational, and purchasing decisions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Creates, reviews, approves, and maintains accurate food labeling information for finished products by applying a thorough knowledge of international food labeling requirements in conjunction with feedback from the third-party labeling consultation.
Identifies, interprets, and reports relevant international regulations to ensure compliance and to minimize risks by applying working knowledge of international food laws.
Collects and reviews product specifications to validate ingredients, formulas, allergen statements, claims, and nutrition information for compliance to import country.
Clarifies necessary changes needed for international compliance and ensures follow-up through effective written and verbal communication.
Effectively communicates technical and regulatory data and recommendations by appropriately tailoring content and approach to the intended audience.
Accountable for the completion of all internal/customer requested and required international documentation.
Actively participates in cross functional meetings that support product innovation and change to meet international compliance.
Assists manager with international compliance training initiatives.
Acts as a liaison between the company and regulatory agencies.
Monitors industry relevant publications for insight on potential risks, regulatory changes or trends and communicates findings to team management.
Assists with maintenance of identity preserved food certifications, Kosher, Organic, Fair Trade, Non-GMO or Bioengineered as related to the country of import.
Maintains accurate and complete records, in compliance with applicable recording keeping requirements, to ensure product traceability and data integrity.
Works with internal departments, customers, vendors, and team members to successfully accomplish tasks.
Communicates and manages project timelines and needs, maintaining work to meet timelines.
Responds to urgent business needs with accuracy, completeness, and professionalism.
