A Brief Overview
Organizes and conducts daily therapeutic programs to facilitate rehabilitation of people with psychosocial illnesses; assesses, maintains and develops programs to enhance social, cognitive, physical and emotional functioning of patients.
What You Will Do Perform assessment for functional and rehabilitative needs that may include activities of daily living; community living skills; social, leisure and vocational skills; self care. Provide quality therapeutic recreational and expressive therapy in group or individual setting Educate patient/family/caregiver in skills applicable for discharge plan. Participate in the interdisciplinary care process. Perform other department activities such as, but not limited to documentation, billing, support of department operations, etc. Additional Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards. For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation. Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace. Qualifications: Education Bachelor's Degree and graduate of an accredited school in Therapeutic Recreation, Art Therapy, or Music Therapy (Required) Master's Degree (Preferred) Certification or licensure in respective field. Work Experience Mental health experience or related services in health care facility (Preferred) Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Non-violent crisis prevention training within 3 months of employment (Required proficiency) Knowledge of therapeutic processes, growth and development, limit setting, behavior management and establishing/maintaining therapeutic relationships and boundaries appropriate to age of patient population served. (Required proficiency) Professional initiative, objectivity, good time management and interpersonal skills, commitment to interdisciplinary patient care delivery. (Required proficiency) Physical, cognitive and perceptual ability to provide appropriate patient therapies. (Required proficiency) Preferred Qualifications/Position Details:
Previous experience is preferred. Prior work with Pediatrics is strongly preferred. Schedule is for days - ideally 4 shifts per week: (2) 8-hour shifts (8:00am - 4:30pm) and (2) 12-hour shifts (8:00am - 8:30pm). The days of the week will be determined with the Rehab Therapy team. It will also require rotating weekends and holidays.
