About Bay Area Council Economic Institute The Bay Area Council Economic Institute is a chartered program of the Bay Area Council Foundation. Through its economic and policy research and partnerships over the last 30 years, the Economic Institute has addressed major issues including infrastructure, housing, homelessness, climate change, science and technology, and governance.
The Bay Area Council is an employer-sponsored, public policy advocacy organization for the nine-county Bay Area. The Council proactively advocates for a strong economy, a vital business environment, and a better quality of life for everyone who lives in the Bay Area.
The Bay Area Council Economic Institute produces reports that include both quantitative and qualitative assessments of aspects of the Bay Area and California economies. Developing these reports requires significant coordination among individuals possessing a wide-range of skills including industry and employment analysis, basic data processing, as well as economic development and policy analysis across a range of issues and sectors.
About the role The Bay Area Council Economic Institute is looking to expand its dynamic economic and policy research team. We are looking for a research analyst who believes in innovative solutions to address major issues impacting the competitiveness, economic development, and quality of life of the Bay Area region and the state. The ideal applicant will also be dependably detail-oriented, committed to high quality, and enjoy working in a collaborative environment.
Key roles and responsibilities Research Analysts will work collaboratively with colleagues at the Economic Institute to produce reports, presentations, and other materials. Research analysts will be involved in projects from start to finish and will also lead efforts in general data collection and narrative development. Projects will generally be led by a principal of the Institute, but research analysts will take the primary lead on specific tasks. It is expected that research analysts will contribute meaningful ideas and work productively with other research team members, both internal and external, as well as on independent assignments. Successful analysts are encouraged to progressively take on greater roles and responsibility over time.
Specific tasks may include, but are not limited to:

Writing and developing articles, publications, and reports collaboratively; Aiding in the design of research strategies and methods on a project-by-project basis; Proofreading and copy-editing Institute documents and presentations; Participating in and leading interviews with outside individuals as relevant to Institute projects; Conducting data analysis using applications such as STATA, Excel, and IMPLAN; Processing data and maintaining the Institute's databases; and, Providing support for Institute events and functions. Experience and skills Bachelor's degree (no specific field of focus) or the equivalent of 2-3 years' work experience. Other qualifications include:

Excellent writing skills Well-developed analytical thinking Strong quantitative and statistical skills MS Office: must be highly adept with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; use of STATA or other statistical programs a plus Useful information The Research Analyst position is an outstanding opportunity for a highly motivated individual who desires a role in a highly respected organization. The salary range is $65,000 to $75,000 and will be commensurate with the candidate's experience. Other benefits include:

Annual performance and compensation reviews Annual bonus incentive program (when financial conditions permit) Medical, dental and vision insurance is 100% paid by the employer for the employee and 50% coverage for all dependents will be paid by the employer with the employee carrying the other 50%. Long-term disability, short-term disability, and life insurance policy of up to one (1) times the employee's annual salary. Paid time off (PTO) of 20 days per year for the first four years, then 25 days thereafter. Eleven (11) paid holidays. Employer sponsored 401(k) plan with an employer match of 12 percent. Professional development training allowance provided annually. Mobile Phone reimbursement up to $55.00 per month. Wellness stipend of $25.00 per month (certain qualifications must be met). Commuter stipend/work from home stipend provided monthly. This job is a hybrid position. Employees are required to work from our San Francisco headquarters a minimum of 2 days per week.
