CAS is currently seeking a Information Scientist-Regulatory Chemist for our Content Operations Team. This position will be located in our headquarters in Columbus, Ohio. Position Summary: The Regulatory Chemist applies scientific expertise, analytical skills, problem solving capabilities, and customer communication skills to help support CAS Registry Services and build CAS's world-class collection of scientific data. They leverage their expertise to determine substance identity of submitted chemical information from CAS' customers and regulatory agencies. The incumbent may also provide scientific and content knowledge, capabilities, insights, and solutions for other CAS functions, including scientific consulting services. Specific Responsibilities: The Regulatory Chemist analyzes chemical substance data such as structures, nomenclature, and processes to determine and assign CAS Registry Numbers. Specific responsibilities include collecting, organizing, and reviewing substance information, chemical legislation, and relevant scientific data. Knowledge of structural descriptions and naming conventions of chemical substances is preferred. Requirements: A Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related scientific field with successful completion of organic chemistry coursework Excellent scientific comprehension, written, and verbal communication skills to communicate complex chemical substance identity concepts Experience in customer communications - verbal and written Strong learning agility including ability to quickly learn and apply complex scientific concepts and policies and technology tools.
