Position: Bioprocess Specialist Exempt: $28.85 Job Summary: The Bioprocess Specialist provides hands-on active participation in a team that supports sustaining activities, investigations of product and process issues development, and supports the transfer of new products and processes into Operations.
The Bioprocess Specialist works on assigned projects with minimum supervision and guidance.
The Bioprocess Specialist is expected to perform experimentation as required by technical teams, implement changes, contribute new ideas, and find innovative methods to accomplish goals.
Job Responsibilities: (Primary Duties, Roles, and/or Authorities) • Performs studies and experiments to further the understanding of a technical issue or development of a new product or process with minimum guidance.
• Collects and analyzes experimental data, draw conclusions, and generate experiment report.
• Participates in the documentation and implementation of reagent manufacturing methods and processes.
• Participates in Process Validation, Engineering and Continuous Improvement projects.
• Writes Engineering Change Orders.
Submits prepared documentation for approval.
• Promotes a safe work environment.
Participates in Environmental Health and Safety programs.
Notifies supervisor of all observed hazardous conditions or unsafe work practices.
• Performs other related duties and assignments as required.
Education and Experience: Minimum requirements: • Requires a minimum of a Bachelor Degree in a related scientific discipline (such as Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiologist, Biology, or Medical Technology) and a minimum of 3 years of experience in a laboratory or pharmaceutical/medical device/biotechnology environment.
Knowledge and Skills: KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS • Knowledge in the operation of laboratory related instrumentation such as spectrophotometry, pH meters, HPLC.
Flow Cytometers preferred.
• Knowledge of protein chemistry, immune-assays and other molecular techniques.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Analytical, technical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Working Knowledge of Word Excel, Power point, Visio • Fully Bilingual (Spanish and English).
Physical Demands: (if applicable) Occasionally, the work requires carrying, lifting, pushing and pulling of heavy level objects.
In addition, occasionally requires climbing and stooping.
Frequently, the job requires standing, reaching, talking and seeing (far/depth perception/visual color discrimination).
Constantly, the work requires walking, sitting, handling and hearing.
Work Environment: (if applicable) The work is performed constantly inside the building.
The work requires exposure to extreme cold and heat temperatures changes.
Also, requires the exposure to wet and/or humid conditions.
The work environment has hazards exposures (mechanical-equipment, electrical, burns, explosives and biomedical) and atmospheric conditions (fumes, odors, mists and gases).
