About this Role
As the Sr. Accountant (CPA), you will be responsible for ensuring the timely completion of all month-end financial reporting tasks, and ensuring Varda's goals, missions, and objectives are achieved. This role is essential to developing Varda's accounting processes and procedures as the Winnebago reentry vehicles are developed. As the team's CPA, you will ensure all accounting and finance activities are in compliance, audit deliverables are completed, and advising on the company's overall financial plan.
This is a full-time, exempt position located in our El Segundo headquarters.
Required Skills Scope projects including requirements capture and initial design trades to open-ended problems Participate in the accounting close process to ensure timely and accurate reporting of all monthly accounting financial information for the entire company in conjunction with the Finance team. Provide day to day support and administration for Varda's portfolio of financial systems Prepare journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, reserves, intercompany transactions. Interact effectively with Finance and Accounting stakeholders to define business processes and identify areas of improvements/automation Provide insight on revenue, spending variances, and department-level reporting to Varda's managers, teams, and business partners Help devise Accounting Treatments as products and company matures. Support tax team and local service providers to meet international regulatory and tax compliance needs. Assist in the development of internal policies and memos Prepare schedules and supporting documentation related to external audit requirements, and interact with external auditors as required Conduct ad-hoc analyses as needed to support operational decision-making Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or engineering CPA License 4+ years of accounting experience Strong written and verbal communication Independently motivated with a demonstrated track record of delivering complex technical projects Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, applied business statistics, and general modeling experience of complex non-linear system US citizen or lawful permanent resident of the U.S. to conform with U.S Government space technology export regulations under ITAR Experience with US GAAP accounting standards Preferred Skills and Qualifications 6+ years in the finance industry with experience in a technology-based start-up Big 4 accounting firm experience Experience with US GAAP and international accounting standards (IFRS or other local accounting standards), and multiple currency environments Experience with MS Dynamics 365 or other ERP accounting systems Ability to analyze a high volume of transactions and data Strong analytical skills with the ability to seek underlying assumptions through probing, questioning, and listening Demonstrated time management skills and ability to work independently, handle multiple priorities concurrently with shifting time frames, and meet deadlines; self-starter with high degree of initiative, urgency, and follow through Demonstrated ability to work in a team, facilitate effective team interactions, and to foster a positive work environment; willingness to assist teammates in order to achieve departmental goal Experience with SQL and/or Python Compensation Sr. Accountant (CPA): $110,000-$155,000 /per year Leveling and base salary is determined by job-related skills, education level, experience level, and job performance You will be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of stock options and/or long-term cash awards Offer compensation also includes the ability to purchase company stock through the Employee Stock Purchase Plan Varda Space Industries is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
