Description: Position Summary: The Senior Business Analyst position requires an individual to facilitate the development and implementation of system planning, designing, upgrading, and maintenance of efficient operations of finance systems. This individual will apply proven communication, analytical problem solving, systems knowledge, and critical thinking to resolve systematic and operational issues in order to optimize efficiencies and minimize cost to YKHC. This individual will mentor and train junior analysts, will be acting manager in the manager's stead, and can report directly to the Revenue Cycle Director.
Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions: Develop, test, and maintain healthcare system applications through research, modification, and repurposing to provide system integrity to customers. Provide decision support to management through the use of tools such as Business Intelligence, Change Management, and Project Management. Design, build, document, and train staff on advanced queries, query logic, information management, data integrity, and reports. Formulates and implements strategies for process improvement. Formulates, plans, and facilitates new initiatives. Monitors all departments within the division to ensure all outputs adhere to regulatory requirements and provides decision support for continuing compliance. Supervises and coordinates intermediate analysts work efforts to maximize department and division priority efficiency. Oversees the supervision of junior analysts. All other duties, as assigned. Position Qualifications: Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in a Business, Accounting, or Technology field and three years experience in a hospital setting. A combination of education and experience may be substituted for Bachelor's Degree. Minimum Experience: Five years in a Healthcare Revenue Cycle department with four years experience in pertinent Financial Systems. Term in Information Technology preferred. Significant experience with large (2000+ records with more than 10 variables) databases required. Licensing/Certification: HFMA certification at time of hire or within one (1) year of start date. Equipment/Tools: Computer proficiency with various software and database systems, calculator, multi-line phone, fax/copy machine. Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Advanced knowledge of pertinent healthcare system applications, tables, dependencies, workflows and outlays. Advanced knowledge of Siemens Medseries 4 and/or Cerner required. Work experience includes advanced reporting or Business Intelligence models. Experience with hospital electronic transactions to include HL7 and X12 EDI (837,835, 271/272, etc.) Ability to perform drill down techniques for root cause barriers Project management experience, LEAN/Six Sigma certification or experience preferred Understanding of medical claim billing and reimbursement processes and operations Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment Experience in creating financial decision models to support revenue stream and service line decisions. Clinical experience with operations, workflows, medical terminology, and/or associated systems and applications.
