Responsibilities: Reviews project plans, requirements and specifications to develop a comprehensive understanding of the project and develop scope of work, labor, and equipment costsInitiates RFIs as needed for accurate and competitive pricingPrepares quantity takeoffs and pricing of scope either through self-perform production-based estimating or unit price estimatingAssists with estimating preparation and ITB softwareReviews and understands all bid documents and material requirements to assess constructability and product material requirementsInitiates subcontractor solicitations, builds trade packages, and packages pricingPrepares bid packagesReviews all bids across subcontractors to ensure pricing comparisons are accurate and all missing items are recorded and accounted forPrequalifies subcontractors in new markets and is responsible for trade relationshipsPrepares estimates according to the requirements of multiple delivery systemsReviews quotes and estimates with the project management teamPartners with the project management team for contract buy-outInitiates and participates in meet and greet presentations with subcontractors and suppliersUnderstands FAR clauses, the self-performance requirements on Government ContractsProvides mentorship and training to preconstruction teamDevelops strategy for personnel development & recruiting Mandatory Qualifications: 7-10+ years of estimating experience, less experience if an expert in Federal ContractingExperience bidding federal sector projectsExpert in estimating software and Excel; must be self-sufficientExperience bidding commercial building projectsExperience with design-bid-build and design-buildAble to produce detailed estimates for 3-5 different trade packagesExtensive knowledge of construction means and methods, costs and engineering principlesAbility to lead and mentor a team of estimatorsEngages and coordinates with Estimators on the bidUnderstands costs and market conditionsExpert at deciphering inclusions and exclusions and trade comparisonsAccurately estimates time required to complete actions and activitiesA motivated and driven individual with strong organizational and communication skillsAble to prioritize tasks in a high-pressure bidding environmentAdvanced computer skills with estimating softwareTravel to site visits and owner meetings within 400 milesAbility to pass a background investigation and a drug testA desire to stay and grow with a company that will help mentor, train, and educate you Preferred Qualifications: Led bids from start to finishBachelor's degree in Civil, MEP Engineering or Construction ManagementExpertise in building constructionExperience in a competitive hard bidding environmentExperience bidding healthcare projectsExperience with Davis Bacon-Prevailing wage or Union required projectsExperience with the Department of Veterans Affairs, GSA, USACE, Army, Navy, NAVFAC At Richard Group, we believe in showing the same gratitude and care to our team members that we do in our projects.
