The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic and practical legal advice on a wide range of issues, with a strong emphasis on privacy, data security, and commercial transactions. This role involves serving as the primary legal partner to business leaders, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements, ensuring legal compliance in external communications, and managing legal issues related to privacy and data security. The Senior Counsel will also be expected to stay abreast of legislative developments in the field of privacy and work with cross-functional teams to implement necessary changes.
Applicants should have a Juris Doctorate degree and be licensed to practice law, with a minimum of 4 years' of experience in privacy and data security and commercial legal matters. A background in a large law firm is preferred, and experience in the healthcare industry is a strong advantage. The role requires in-depth knowledge of US privacy and data security laws, including HIPAA and CCPA, and experience with healthcare regulations such as Stark, Anti-Kickback, and the False Claims Act. The ideal candidate will have excellent drafting and negotiation skills, experience in handling data security incidents, and the ability to provide clear and practical guidance on legal requirements to non-legal colleagues.
