Job Overview: A law firm in Oak Park, IL, is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Immigration Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have 5-8 years of experience in immigration law and a strong track record of managing caseloads, providing strategic legal solutions, and representing clients in various immigration matters. The Senior Immigration Attorney will handle complex cases, provide legal analysis, and collaborate with law enforcement and community organizations on immigration issues.
Duties:
Explain immigration concepts and present strategic solutions tailored to individual client needs.
Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
Manage a diverse workload of immigration cases from intake to resolution.
Conduct visits and intakes with detained individuals at immigration detention centers.
Prepare and file various immigration applications, including removal defense, family-based immigration petitions, and other USCIS applications.
Review and adjust immigration applications/packets to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations to stay updated on changes in immigration law.
Meet with potential clients for strategic consultations, assess their cases, and develop appropriate legal strategies.
Prepare clients and witnesses for court and USCIS testimony, including developing comprehensive case strategies.
Provide legal analysis to clients to identify potential benefits or risks associated with their cases.
Draft and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.
Requirements:
5-8 years of experience in Immigration Law.
Proven track record of successfully managing a caseload and advancing legal cases.
Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR, Detained cases, Citizenship applications, and other USCIS matters.
Experience with Case Management Software is preferred.
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
Certifications:
Licensed to practice law in the state of Illinois.
Skills:
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong team player who can strategize and collaborate with fellow associates.
Preferably bilingual in English and Spanish.
High level of organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to handle complex cases and provide strategic legal solutions.
