About the role

The Digital Imaging Technician produces digital photographs and high-resolution scans of collection objects, library and archives materials, exhibition installations, museum building and grounds, and select programming in support of the museum's exhibitions and mission. This role stands out from other digital imaging technician positions due to the unique opportunity to engage directly with museum collection objects in a studio environment. The ideal candidate should have a passion for working within a museum setting and possess a keen ability to reproduce artwork with high accuracy. This role is perfect for a service-oriented individual looking to build an arts-focused career while contributing to the preservation of collections within a mission-driven organization. This role will report to the Director of Digital Collections

Responsibilities Photography and Image Production Create high resolution digital photographs of collection objects (primarily works on paper and other two-dimensional art), library and archives materials, exhibition installations, the museum building and grounds, staff portraits, select programs, and candid images of visitors in the galleries. Produce publication-quality scans of existing media using flatbed and drum scanners. Create archival match prints to aid print production. Studio assistance, maintenance, and cross departmental planning Manage studio inventory (ink, paper, seamless and set supplies); maintain studio Assist Museum Photographer as needed, including moving equipment and building sets Administrative tasks including physical and digital file maintenance, processing departmental invoices Maintain photographic and studio equipment and coordinate outside with service and rental vendors. Qualifications
A successful candidate will meet many of these requirements and have the desire and capacity to learn the rest on the job.

Bachelor's degree or relevant experience in digital photography, scanning, archival inkjet printing, preferably in a museum or arts organization Experience with use and maintenance of photographic equipment including DSLR, medium format cameras and capture backs, studio lighting, film and flatbed scanners, and color inkjet printers. Experience maintaining best practices for digital workflows, including precision color calibration for image accuracy and fidelity, especially as applied to cultural heritage preservation imaging Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly PhotoShop, Lightroom, and Bridge Knowledge of Capture One camera software; i1Display Pro calibration software; as well as Microsoft Office Suite, Mac iOS Excellent written and verbal communication skills, detail oriented Ability work independently or collaborate with a team as appropriate Manage multiple time sensitive projects simultaneously and meet deadlines Physical requirements: sit stand and bend as may be required to facilitate normal job functions, ability to climb, balance, and work from ladders, move fine art objects safely, and lift and carry equipment of moderate weight.
