Job Type:
Regular RAND seeks a Senior Research Accounting Analyst to support its Time and Materials (T&M) portfolio management.
The successful candidate will undertake a range of tasks to support financial operations, with a particular focus on Time & Materials (T&M) contracts. This role will also support business processes and the control framework for managing T&M projects in accordance with industry standards and RAND guidelines.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Participate in bi-weekly accounting period closes, understand and apply contractual terms including sponsor-approved labor categories and burdened rates, manage T&M contract close-out and facilitate T&M accrual processing, perform reconciliation and analysis of T&M project financials, conduct T&M revenue recognition and monitor project earnings, adjudicate deferred revenue and generate regular reporting data, liaise between Finance & Accounting and other divisions to ensure seamless communication, contribute to the maintenance of efficient internal controls, understand project creation process and overall business processes connected with PPT setup.
Qualifications Experience and understanding of accounting transactions required
Experience and familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Experience with general ledger functions
Ability to adapt quickly and learn new tasks independently
Ability to organize workflow in an efficient manner
Aptitude to perform detailed work with a high degree of accuracy
Research, compile, and analyze data for projects via reports as needed
Experience in non-profit accounting strongly a plus
Proficient using MS Office suite required
Strong Excel skills with experience with large data sets required
Experience with the Workday ERP, a plus
Experience with federal contracts and grants and "FAR" (Federal Acquisition Regulations) and Uniform Guidance (UG).
Experience and familiarity with U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) including OASIS plus (Oasis+) mechanism
Possess excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and cross-functional teams. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively to develop innovative solutions.
Education Requirement Minimum High school diploma
Preferred BS/BA in Finance, Business or Accounting
Experience Minimum 10 years of relevant experience; 6 years preferred (with a bachelor's degree).
Location Santa Monica, Washington DC (Arlington VA), Pittsburgh.
Fully remote status is an option for this position.
Salary Range 73,700 to 109,400
