We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Tax Accountant to manage and oversee our client's tax accounting activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tax compliance, reporting and planning, with a focus on ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulatory requirements. This role will play a critical part in supporting the company's financial objectives and maintaining compliance with tax laws.
Our client is looking for a Senior Tax Accountant to join their team on a hybrid basis in their office in the Northern Suburbs of Chicago.
Senior Tax Accountant Responsibilities: Prepare and review corporate income tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state and local tax regulations Assist in tax planning initiatives to optimize the company's tax position and minimize tax liabilities Conduct research on tax laws and regulations to stay abreast of changes and developments affecting the company Collaborate with internal teams to gather necessary financial data and ensure timely and accurate tax reporting Assist with tax audits and inquiries by regulatory authorities, providing documentation and support as needed Analyze financial statements and tax provisions to assess potential tax impacts and propose strategies for improvement Develop and maintain effective internal controls related to tax accounting processes to mitigate risks and ensure compliance Provide guidance and support to finance and accounting teams on tax-related matters, including training and education initiatives Senior Tax Accountant Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA certification preferred 3+ years of experience in corporate tax accounting, preferably in the insurance industry Strong knowledge of federal, state and local tax laws and regulations Proficiency in tax software and accounting systems, with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and explain complex tax concepts to non-experts Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously High level of integrity and professionalism, with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality
