As the Senior Tax Analyst - SALT, you will help our clients solve their business issues by performing multi-state tax research on state and local income tax and sales & use tax matters such as tax planning, adoption and implementation of new tax laws, due diligence and controversies with state and local jurisdictions. To be successful you will need to demonstrate strong technical, leadership and communication skills. WHAT YOU'LL DO Assist multi-state companies with state and local tax issues including compliance, advisory services, planning, technology and controversies Assist multi-state companies with state and local tax controversies which includes preparing clients for discussions with auditors, representing the client at hearings, appeal meetings and preparing protests Review information presented on state income tax and sales & use tax returns before, during and after preparation Research and draft technical memoranda regarding state tax controversies Research and draft summaries of state tax legislation to communicate in-house and to clients Supervise team and leverage their skills and abilities to effectively and efficiently complete engagements Develop new clients through new business development efforts Identify opportunities for other services Assist multi-state companies with analyzing state tax considerations/impacts related to business restructuring projects and intercompany transactions Supervise, mentor and develop staff members WHAT YOU'LL NEED Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, J.D., LL.M or Masters in Taxation Minimum of two years of progressive SALT consulting and technical experience in public accounting, a combination of public accounting and corporate environments, or state department of taxation/revenue Preferred: CPA and/or Certified Member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation (CMI) designation Other: Ability and desire to perform in a high-energy team environment Strong teamwork and analytical skills and attention to detail Experience in developing and supervising projects, as well as supervising staff Experience in providing tax research and technical advice on multi-state issues, including experience with state tax technical research skills (i.e., BNA Bloomberg, RIA Checkpoint, CCH, etc.) Excellent writing, communication and tax research skills, with experience writing technical memorandums and client proposals Can travel as needed WHERE CULTURE COUNTS
