Job Summary:
The Production Sewer operates sewing machines to close and finish filled items, such as pillows and pet beds, in a manufacturing environment. This position involves using single-needle and serger machines to ensure products meet quality standards and production targets. The Production Sewer is responsible for maintaining equipment, performing inspections, and assisting in other production areas as needed to support efficient workflow and output.

Operate single-needle and serger sewing machines to sew and close filled items accurately and efficiently. Ensure each item is sewn without loose threads and meets all quality standards. Perform regular maintenance on sewing machines, equipment, and tools to ensure optimal performance and safety. Assist in pre-inspection, in-line inspection, and pack-out areas when necessary, especially for products with zipper enclosures. Work efficiently to meet or exceed the hourly and daily production targets set by the Production Supervisor. Maintain a safe and clean work environment by adhering to established safety guidelines and best practices.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution. Prior experience in sewing within a production line or commercial facility. Proven experience operating both single-needle and serger sewing machines.
Education and Experience:
High School degree, diploma, or GED equivalent from an accredited institution. Experience in sewing operations, specifically using single-needle and serger sewing machines in a production or commercial setting.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive tasks, and lift materials as needed. Manual dexterity and precision in handling sewing tasks. Work is performed in a manufacturing plant environment where exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures is common. The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required to ensure safety standards are met.
