General Summary
This position helps with fixing vehicles and equipment used in the pipe rehabilitation industry after its been damaged in an accident or other incident causing structural or surface damage, repairing vehicles or equipment to an original operating state.
Layne's Columbus office is looking to fill a Shop Helper position. The ideal candidate will be a well-rounded "jack of all trades" capable of addressing electrical, and hydraulic issues. Familiarity with submersible pumps is a plus. Training is available in certain areas.
Essential Job Accountabilities Maintain and perform minor repairs on construction equipment, specifically: Electrical panels, Submersible and Turbine Pumps (including starter boxes), Hydraulic Pumps and Equipment Load and unload equipment and trucks Track inventory on important parts/equipment Operate a forklift Complete basic daily paperwork Help with fabrication (welding ability a plus) Driving a company supplied pickup as needed Expedite delivery of field supplies to locations in and out of state Perform yard duties at direction of supervisor Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications: Layne is a drug free workplace and conducts both pre-employment and random drug screens Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation Must have clean driving record, with ability to get a DOT medical card Must be able to work safely and follow directions Must be able to lift items up to 50 lbs and do team lifts over 50 lbs Ability to stand and walk for major portion of shift May require occasional out of town and/or out of state work (one to three weeks per year) Must be dependable, reliable, honest, trustworthy and to work for periods of time without supervision Must have good verbal and written communication skills in order to interact with employees, and vendors Able to pass a work fitness physical and be physically able to secure loads Additional Requirements/Skills
