Part time Child Care Center Director - La Plata, MD Early Learning Center of the College of Southern MD AM and PM shift Monday through Friday

HOURS 6AM-9:45AM PM 3:30PM-6PM

Position Objective:

AlphaBEST Education is seeking a Site Director for our Early Child Care Center in LaPlata, MD. The Early Child Care Center Director creates a safe and nurturing environment for young children to learn and grow while providing leadership and guidance to the stakeholders of the child care center. The Center Director will ensure that the child care center meets AlphaBEST and state regulations while building a nurturing environment for our valued families.

Key Responsibilities:

Set the targets for each department and help them in their budgets and also solve any inter-departmental issues and handle a number of employees;

Manage class schedules to effectively staff sessions and meet company efficiency and usage targets;

Coordinate with caregivers, families, social services agencies, and medical professionals to develop effective care plans for members;

Grade student tests and monitoring all students' academic progress;

Report all the work-related details like reports, findings, and observations to the Regional Director of Operations;

Conduct conferences with parents and students to review progress, adjust academic plans, and renew enrollments;

Comply with company policies and procedures, safety and regulatory laws and standards;

Support the Center Director in meeting sales performance targets and operational excellence standards;

Other duties and responsibilities as changed or assigned at any time;

Responsible for the admission and discharge of members;

Lead the staff and community Why It Matters campaign for the Paulding Early Learning Academy;

Establish and maintain a culture of respect, teamwork, compassion, fun, integrity, and professionalism; Scheduling;

Serve as the face for the Paulding Academy within local business and community organizations;

Recruit and retain high-quality teachers and assistant directors.

CHILD SAFETY AND SUPERVISION

Provides constant supervision of children by staying within sight and sound of assigned group. Adheres to policies and procedures in a proactive manner, making the safety and care of children a primary focus.

Follows licensing regulations/standards, such as reporting child incidents and proper health and hygiene procedures.

Establishes and enforces rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order.

Assists in emergency situations such as evacuation procedures and CPR/First Aid.

Reports suspected child abuse and neglect in accordance with mandated reporter guidelines.

Stays apprised of child-related food allergies, special needs, and other medically sensitive conditions.

Reports to Center Director any concerns regarding child behavior, sickness, health-related observations, accidents, or incidents requiring medical attention or matters that should be reported to the parents.

Inspects on a daily basis all facilities, equipment, and supplies and makes sure all are accounted for and put away at the end of each day.

PROGRAMMING

Plans and facilitates programming to advance the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of children.

Provides a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate and use, both in learning activities and imaginative play.

Teaches children basic preschool skills such as colors, shapes, numbers and letter recognition, personal hygiene, and social skills.

Works collaboratively with peers, shares program-related information, and shares collective tasks.

Encourages creativity and intellectual curiosity by building on the child's interests and talents.

Organizes and leads activities designed to promote physical, mental, and social development, such as games, arts and crafts, music, storytelling, and field trips.

Observes and evaluates children's performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.

Identifies children showing signs of emotional, developmental, or health-related problems, and discusses them with the Center Director.

ENVIRONMENT

Provides a caring family-oriented environment where positive staff, child, and parent relationships are fostered.

Meets with parents and guardians to discuss their child's progress and needs, determine their priorities for the child, and suggest ways that they can promote learning and development.

Presents a friendly, positive, and warm learning environment.

Assimilates arriving children to the school environment by greeting them, helping them remove outerwear, and selecting activities of interest to them.

Adapts teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.

Reads books to the entire class or small groups.

Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and clearly communicates those objectives.

Maintains a well-organized and clean space conducive to growth and learning.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

Attends and maintains the required training hours as mandated by the state licensing agency.

Qualifications:

An Associate's degree with a minimum of 15 semester hours of approved course work in early childhood or a Bachelor's degree in any field is required

2 years of experience working under supervision with preschoolers in a licensed child care center, nursery school, church -operated school, or similar setting

Approval by the Department as a teacher for early childhood education, including nursery school through third grade, and has 6 semester hours in early childhood education or Certification by any other state for childhood education, including nursery school through third grade.

CPR and First Aid certified.

Effective listening, communication skills are required with both children and adults.

Serves as a positive role model; must be enthusiastic, energetic, creative, and sensitive to children.

Good judgment and sound decision-making.

Knowledge of state policies and procedures regarding child care regulations.

Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment for children.

Familiar with the stages of physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and cultural development in children.

In-depth knowledge of health, hygiene, and nutritional requirements of children.

Possess demonstrated a professional level of verbal and written communication skills.
