The Social Worker collaborates with the multidisciplinaryteam and provides input in the development of the IHP/IEP for studentsrequiring social work intervention and support in the school setting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Establishes a set of rules and procedures that areappropriate for therapeutic setting and are within the parameter of the fullinstructional program
Designs and develops appropriate individualized serviceplans that are based on the IEP and supports the curriculum using diagnosticinformation from a variety of assessments and assessment processes
Uses available and appropriate resources as a bridge to theinstructional program
Effectively transitions students from therapy to classroomand classroom to therapy
Plans in collaboration with the educational team for theprevention and intervention of inappropriate behaviors, while maintaining thedignity of the student
Engages student in providing positive feedback usingeffective reinforcement techniques
Interacts effectively with (a) students, (b)family members,(c)educational team members, and (d) professionals outside the organization
Knowledgeable about general development and the impact ofthe disability on the student and his/her family
Utilizes community, state and national resources wherenecessary to promote the safety and welfare of students
Collaborates with all assigned students and educationalsupport staff as well as any assigned student teachers, interns, and volunteersworking in the school for the welfare and safety of all students while in theclassroom, on school grounds, during before and after-school activities
Adheres to Amergis and District policies and procedures
Minimum Requirements:
Holds a Professional Educator License with School SocialWorker (SSW) endorsement as required by state, contract and/or facility
May be required to have MSW or LCSW per state, contract orfacility
Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice
Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicable
Current CPR if applicable
TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site
Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements
Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required
Computer proficiency required
Must be at least 18 years of age
