Shift Details: 8am-4pm Job Summary:
The speech-language pathologist is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating communication disorders in students within a school setting. They work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop individualized treatment plans that address the unique needs of each student. The speech-language pathologist also provides guidance and support to educators, helping them create an inclusive learning environment that fosters effective communication skills.
Responsibilities:
1. Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify communication disorders, including speech, language, and social communication difficulties.
2. Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment results, considering the student's age, abilities, and educational goals.
3. Provide direct therapy services to students, utilizing evidence-based techniques and strategies to improve communication skills.
4. Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to intervention and support.
5. Monitor and document student progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
6. Educate and train teachers and support staff on effective communication strategies to enhance classroom instruction and student engagement.
7. Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, providing valuable insights and recommendations for students with communication disorders.
8. Stay up-to-date with the latest research and advancements in the field of speech-language pathology, incorporating evidence-based practices into daily work.
9. Maintain accurate and confidential records of assessments, treatment plans, progress reports, and other relevant documentation.
10. Advocate for students with communication disorders, promoting awareness and understanding within the school community.
Qualifications:
1. Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
2. Valid state license or certification in Speech-Language Pathology.
3. Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) preferred.
4. Experience working with children and adolescents in a school or pediatric setting.
5. Strong knowledge of communication disorders, assessment tools, and evidence-based intervention techniques.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with students, parents, teachers, and other professionals.
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
8. Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple caseloads and meet deadlines.
9. Proficiency in utilizing technology and software applications relevant to speech-language pathology.
10. Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining ethical standards.
