Job Summary:
As a Senior Accountant within CooperCompanies Finance department, reporting to the Manager, Technical Accounting & SEC Reporting, this position is a fantastic opportunity to join a progressive and passionate team while developing strong working relationships with cross-functional partners and various levels of management. It is a highly visible role that frequently interacts with executive management as part of managing the financial reporting process.
In addition to developing and maintaining accounting policies, you assist in the preparation of all external financial reporting, including the 10-K's/10-Q's, earnings releases and proxy statement filings, and the design and implementation of internal controls over financial reporting. Occasionally, you perform preliminary technical accounting research for ad-hoc requests.
Responsibilities Research, document, record, and communicate technical accounting matters as they arise. Assist in updating accounting policies to reflect changes within the Company and evolving industry standards of SEC/GAAP regulations and SOX 404 requirements. Assist with the implementation and ongoing monitoring of significant new accounting pronouncements. Participate in the preparation of all external financial reporting, including Forms 10-K/10-Q, earnings releases on Form 8-K, and other required SEC filings. Prepare the Statement of Cash Flows, Statement of Shareholder's Equity, and other financial disclosure requirements with such filings. Coordinate the information gathering process across the organization and interact with the Company's external auditors. Prepare the quarterly SEC reporting tie-outs, which include the supporting documents for the SEC filings. Review XBRL interactive data files for all Form 10-Q and 10-K filings in accordance with the SEC filing requirements. Assist with the accounting and documentation for acquisitions, including opening balance sheet procedures and integration of the acquiree. Perform global accounting for share-based compensation awards, including RSUs, stock options, and ESPP by performing the valuation of compensation granted, calculation of monthly expense, and forecasting future impact to the Company. Prepare schedules as needed for the tax department and support stock administration as needed. Ensure compliance with policies and procedures related to SEC Reporting and share-based compensation in accordance with our SOX requirements. Complete special projects and other duties as assigned. Qualifications You thrive in the fast-paced environment that values problem solving skills, continuous improvement and technical expertise Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive responsibilities - mix of Big-4 and / or public company experience required Strong understanding of financial statements, US GAAP, and SEC regulations Ability to learn quickly, work independently, and adapt to change in a fast-paced environment Excellent communication skills, including technical report writing and the ability to effectively present information to various levels of an organization Great interpersonal and project management skills with ability to work effectively with multiple functional areas and collaborate with people with a diverse set of talents and perspectives Detailed oriented while being able to consider the big picture. Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting CPA or equivalent experience Highly proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint Experience with tools such as Workiva, Intelligize and Oracle Work Environment: Business casual office environment Willing to report to work in San Ramon (catered lunches 3 days/week when working in the office) Social activities including team events, employee resource groups (ERGs)Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer. For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the starting base pay for this role is between $96,432.00 and $128,576.00 per year and may include cost of living adjustments. The actual base pay includes many factors and is subject to change and modification in the future. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation and benefits.
