The Sr. Engineer, Packaging will work onsite at our Lake Forest, CA site. They will design and optimize product packaging to ensure product integrity and appeal under varying shipping and other conditions. They will test, analyze, and select materials for packaging based on durability, cost effectiveness, and production line compatibilities. Maintain continual improvement activities to ensure existing packaging quality. Design and "hands on" experience with a variety of packaging concepts/ practices and procedures. Plans and accomplishes goals. May participate/lead activities with diverse projects as it relates to packaging concepts/designs. Implements actions to ensure desired results are achieved w/efficiency and cost effectiveness. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

HOW YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE: Core expectations include meeting/exceeding customer service/ quality requirements/operating objectives/unit cost control and improvement. Ability to function in a regulated environment maintaining and continuously improving packaging operations pursuant to corporate guidelines and policies. Provide design concepts/technical support to Marketing/Manufacturing/Sourcing/R&D and Quality groups related to the production and packaging of products. Works closely with all levels of Strategic Sourcing Leads packaging development and improvement projects to meet Corporate/regulatory requirements. Creates Project Plans/Organizing resources to ensure project milestones are met within expectations of timelines/ Quality/Budget deliverables. Identifies groundbreaking technologies within the organization with current packaging industry innovations. Generates/reviews and approves product engineering change orders/packaging process changes/packaging related requirements (including label specifications). Ensures corporate Product Life Cycle Management (Agile) system is maintained and current for all packaging related specifications. Works closely with and consults w/suppliers for the development/continual improvement of packaging for components and materials Supports supplier audits. Maintains complaint documentation/records with accuracy to meet corporate and regulatory expectations. Creates packaging related SOP's/Work Instructions. Assists with the facilitation of education/training for appropriate personnel performing packaging activities. Develops/implements various test methods/validations-qualifications with protocols for packaging related developments/projects. Designs product packaging for integrity and transportation robustness following ASTM/ISO/Local-regional guidelines accordingly. Prepares project capital expenditures for new packaging processes and equipment with proper justification as required. Works closely w/operations for resolution and long-term solutions for packaging component and equipment interaction issues, line efficiencies, and continual improvement activities Conduct failure investigations and root cause analysis for customer complaints, plant and supplier issues Writes packaging validation protocols and reports for the qualification of new packaging or packaging revisions. Independently plan, implement, and analyze plant trials. Establish strong working relationship with key production facility functional groups and stakeholders to ensure successful implementation of packaging and production line changes. Conduct in-depth technical feasibility assessments on packaging design, including sustainability impact, supply chain, manufacturing, cost drivers, and consumer impact. High level of creativity and independence in the design and development of new and or improved packaging processes, systems/prototypes and projects Based on purpose of packaging and physical properties/handling requirements, develops/directs development of drawings/specifications/samples with written analysis of proposed packaging to present designs for approval Strong project management skills including management of multiple priorities. Lead/participate in multi-functional teams for multitude of various continuous improvement/new product introduction projects. Leverage technical expertise within WW Packaging and Design Engineering Team if necessary. Observe and support Herbalife Nutrition Safety, Ethics and Compliance polices. Other duties as assigned. Interacts with all levels throughout the Company at Local/Regional and Global levels. MFG/Engineering team(s) Supply Chain-Sourcing-Procurement R&D/Tech Ops Contract Manufacturers. Marketing/Sales GRA SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides leadership through actions. Primary objectives include supporting customer service goals through achievement of operating objectives: Quality/Service/Reliability/Agility and creating/fostering a safe environment at all times. Prepare Analytical reports for management based on raw data. Provide effective reporting for accountability to performance goals. Perform and provide accurate data analysis to help drive decisions and to present to management for support of existing/new initiatives. Qualifications SKILLS AND BACKGROUND REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL: Skills:Familiar-working knowledge with ASTM/ISO/FDA CAPA and Qualification-Validation/Audit procedures Experience in packaging engineering design w/ structured problem solving/use of statistical tools. Good written and oral Communication skills with proven ability to establish and maintain effective communications, internally and with external manufacturing partners at all levels. Dedicated with initiative/creativity and ability to operate with minimal supervision. Results-Success oriented, being agile and flexible with ability to manage and motivate during continuous change. Experience:5-7 years of experience with Packaging/Product Manufacturing, and/or Plant Engineering Training and experience in Lean and Six Sigma, or equivalent desired and/or exposure to concepts of Six Sigma, TPM, OEE and other Lean Manufacturing tools desired Product Manufacturing Experience in Food/Dietary Supplement/Pharmaceuticals, working in a cGMP complaint-regulatory environment. Bachelor in Packaging Engineering/Packaging Science/Industrial-Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent Preferred QualificationsCAD experience
