Our client located in Santa Monica, California is seeking a highly motivated and proactive Staff Accountant to join their dynamic finance team at our fast-growing DeepTech startup. As a Staff Accountant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance, and contributing to the overall financial health of the company. Key Responsibilities Financial Recording and Reporting Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including journal entries, invoices, and receipts. Reconcile bank statements and ensure discrepancies are resolved promptly. Accounts Payable and Receivable Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions. Ensure timely and accurate invoicing and payment processing. Monitor and follow up on outstanding invoices and payments. Budgeting and Forecasting Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts. Track and report on budget variances and expenditures. Collaborate with team members to ensure accurate financial planning. Compliance and Auditing Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information. Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards. Assist in the implementation and maintenance of internal controls. Financial Analysis Conduct financial analysis to support business decision-making. Prepare financial reports and presentations for management. Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements. Administrative Support Provide administrative support to the finance team as needed. Assist in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures. Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 2 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a startup or technology environment. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Skills and Competencies Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
