Operations Supervisor
Position Summary
:
The Landfill Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising a team of Lead Operators, Operators, Technicians and/or other staff who contribute to the efficient operation of the landfill. The Landfill Operations Supervisor is responsible for Safe, Compliant, and
Productive operations that ensure tasks such as working face operation, borrow area operation, gas/leachate system operation, and general landfill management is conducted in a manner consistent with applicable operating permits. The Operations Supervisor works with the Landfill Operations Manager and/or General Manager to implement tactical initiatives to drive operational excellence and budget achievement. The Operations Supervisor ensures adherence to all accident prevention programs and leads operations ensuring compliance with all safety, environmental, operating, regulatory, accounting, ethics, and other standards.
Responsibilities include the execution and delivery of Safety, Customer Experience, and Productivity while supporting a culture of employee engagement.
Principal Responsibilities:
Safety
Understand and provide leadership where safety goals and objectives are clearly communicated and achieved.
Continuously strive to remove unsafe conditions or situations from or related to the landfill operations.
Partner with the maintenance department to ensure all equipment remains in working order and in compliance with both safety and applicable maintenance standards.
Oversee Company safety and accident prevention programs to ensure all reasonable actions are taken to prevent accidents and injuries; ensure a safe and productive work environment for all employees.
Actively engage with employees to instill a culture of safety by demonstration of a personal commitment to safe operations.
Customer Experience
Provide service to all internal and external customers that meets or exceeds expectations.
Resolve both typical and non-typical service requests, equipment breakdowns and schedule changes with prompt communications to all customers.
Interact with internal and external customers to drive experiences to a mutually satisfactory outcome.
Serve as a positive representative of the Company to drive customer satisfaction and loyalty to the
Company.
Productivity
Ensure that employees understand, work towards, and achieve all productivity goals.
Ensure that operational plans are in place that help achieve or exceed the division's budget goals.
Identify and develop strategies to continuously improve operational effectiveness.
Employee Engagement
Continuously foster a collaborative, communicative team environment that drives positive employee engagement.
Identify and promote talent. Provide training, guidance, and corrective action steps when needed to develop our teams for future growth within our Company.
Perform other job-related duties as needed or assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
Able to direct staff of varying size.

Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences, engineering/construction, or business.
Experience in labor relations.
Solid Waste Operator Certification and/or local required certification.
Minimum of 1 year of lead or supervisory experience.
