Overview:
JOB SUMMARY: Performs inspections and tests of in-coming raw materials and packaging to ensure compliance with GSF company requirements and manufacturing standards. Troubleshoots, investigates and reacts to non-conforming raw materials and packaging. Participates in FSMA compliance activities and is member of GSF supplier auditing team.
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Performs inspections, testing and monitoring of in-coming raw materials and packaging to GSF and customer quality standards. Troubleshoots, investigates and reacts to non-conforming raw materials and packaging, including product dispositions, corrective actions, and credit requests.Maintains electronic database housing quality records such as internal specifications and vendor documents including COAs. Routinely interacts with plant personnel, supplier representatives and outside vendors on any raw material and packaging issues. Develops strong working relationships with supplier contacts (Quality, Customer Service, and/or Purchasing). Monitors aging raw material and packaging inventory and reacts accordingly: including requests for shelf life extensions and communication with materials management. Manages raw material and packaging Holds as needed, to ensure non-compliant items are properly segregated. Initiates raw materials or packaging destructions as required. Leads projects related to the implementation and maintenance of FSMA Supply Chain management program for LPNA such as label verification and supply chain applied controls. Performs annual supplier audits as part of the GSF supplier audit team as required. Follows laboratory safety policies, company policies, procedures, and standards for safety, GMPs and HACCP. Provides technical assistance and support to Purchasing and Product Development during vendor, raw material and/or packaging approvals and new finished product commercialization. Participates in the sensory evaluation of raw materials and finished products as required. Performs other related duties or projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and experience equivalent to: Education/Certification: Bachelors degree in food science, chemistry, microbiology, or related field of science from an accredited college or university.
Experience: 5 years of relevant work experience, with an understanding of food safety and regulations.
