Overview:
Perform a variety of ultrasound imaging procedures requiring independent judgment and initiative in the utilization of ultrasound equipment for the diagnosis of disease in patients.


Responsibilities:
Coordinates scheduling and patient preparation for sonography examinations.Reviews Control Sheet for correct ordered exam and other pertinent clinical data prior to sonography examination.Positions patient as appropriate for each specific procedure.Selects appropriate ultrasound technical and recording parameters.Performs proper patient identification as per organizational protocol.Begins and End cases in accordance with Departmental procedures.Provides a permanent record of the significant functional and/or anatomical and pathological data obtained.Sends images to PACS.Maintains appropriate records and files.Insures proper supplies and equipment operation.Always maintains ultrasound rooms in a clean and neat condition.Where appropriate, participate in training programs in ultrasonography.Must be familiar with the needs of all infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric population.Perform other duties as required.Room Maintenance: Always maintain the room and equipment in a neat clean condition.Notify supervisor, service engineers or department administrator of any room or equipment condition which may warrant corrective action, repair, replacement or may in any way contribute to reduction in the safety, health of patient or employee.

Qualifications:
Education: Completion of an approved training program in Ultrasound Technology. Experience: No prior experience required.Knowledge and Skills: Good interpersonal skillsBasic knowledge of imaging equipment used.Ability to fully utilize OBH Radiology electronic record systems, equipment and other healthcare and billing systems relevant to this position.Licenses, Certifications: Registered with American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, except staff that were grandfathered as per the CBA with 1199 dated 09/1/2022. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift a minimum of 60 pounds as well as assist with patient maneuvering.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
