Description Role Description: In accordance with the needs and ages of the population served by The Children's Guild Social Worker in the Therapeutic Foster Care will assure that services to children and families are individualized, strength based, culturally competent and is responsive to the needs of foster families and the youth in the at-risk population. The Social Worker utilizes information gained through interdisciplinary evaluation services to develop and implement the child/youth treatment plan.

We provide individualized transformational experiences to ensure children, families, and communities thrive through education, behavioral health, management, and consulting services. The Children's Guild operates the Monarch Academy public charter and contract schools, Monarch Preschool College Park, The Children's Guild DC Public Charter School, The Children's Guild Transformation Academy, the TranZed Academy for Working Students, TranZed Apprenticeships, Therapeutic Foster Care, and Outpatient Mental Health Clinics. Accountability: This position is accountable to the Clinical Social Work Supervisor.

Principal Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Provides at least two times monthly individual, family and/ group support to foster children/ youth and their foster families in their home or community.
2. Attends interdisciplinary staffing to discuss and integrate evaluation information and to develop a comprehensive treatment plan to address psychological and social needs of the client/family.
3. Collaborates and assists the referring agency, local Department of Social Services, and to develop the agency service plan for the child/youth and family.
4. Collaborates with the school system and other service providers to assure children/ youth are receiving appropriate educational services if indicated.
5. Responds to the juvenile court system through written or oral progress reports when required in the juvenile court's development plan for the child/adult and family.
6. Participates in peer consultation groups and/or individual supervision clinical review work.
7. Attends in-service clinical training programs, treatment planning meetings, and administrative meetings.
8. Performs home studies and re-certifications which includes making recommendations regarding approval/disapproval of applicants.
9. May participate in the field instruction program and supervise social work trainees when interest and capacity is demonstrated and may participate in community advocacy/ educational groups related to the needs of foster care children/ youth and their families.
10. May develop and conduct training for foster parents
11. Participates in a 24-hour on-call rotation with other Therapeutic Foster Care staff members.

12. Provides effective and responsive care to foster parents.
13.Working with foster youth to cope with traumatic life events through a trauma lens.
14.Working with foster parents and other caregivers by coaching them in therapeutic models to help youth progress in accomplishing SMART goals established in treatment plans.
15.Providing psychoeducation to foster parents and youth which will include assessment of family dynamics in the home.
16.Ability to provide and manage case notes, treatment plans and other documents required in a timely manner.
17.Knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
18. Rotation of 24 Hour On-call duties

* The individual will demonstrate the ability to appropriately aid the needs of children and adolescents with or without a developmental disability and their families.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
•Must have knowledge in understanding trauma and family separation.
•Must be able to formulate relationships with adults (foster parents and biological parents).
•Must be able to provide clinical support and resources to foster youth between 0- 20 years old.

Key Result Area #1 - Clinical Knowledge and Skill Development

This Key Result Area will be completed when:
1. Knowledge of normal/abnormal growth and development throughout the age continuum
2. Ability to provide, assess, interpret, and communicate age-specific data (*in response to treatment protocols)..

3. Knowledge of social work theory, skills, practices as related to children, adolescents, youth and their families, in particular, those having experienced complex trauma and intellectual disabilities.
Key Result Area #2 - Coordination and treatment planning

This Key Result Area will be completed when:
1. Social workers assist in the development of appropriate treatment plans for the child and the family.

2. Social workers will work as a cohesive team member with the foster parent.

3. Social workers are aware of agency and community clinical providers and how to access their services (e.g., psychiatrists, psychologists, respite services, etc.)

4. Social worker completes progress notes, updates quarterly treatment plan and reports to the referral source in a timely and accurate manner.

5. All case records are maintained in accordance with licensing and accreditation standards.

Key Result Area #3 - Home Studies and Recertifications (Reapprovals)
This Key Result Area will be completed when:

1. Performs home studies and re-approvals which includes making recommendations regarding approval/disapproval of applicants
2. Treatment foster care homes studies are carried out in a timely and thorough manner.

3. Paperwork for licensing of homes is processed accurately and in a timely manner.

Key Result Area #4 - Other duties
This Key Result Area will be completed when:

1. Requests for compiling outcomes and continuous quality improvement data are carried out in a timely manner.

2. Request for assisting with assigned components of the continuous quality improvement program is carried out.

3. An effort is demonstrated to continuously improve one's knowledge base of clinical youth life education knowledge and skill.

4. Appropriate and effective relationships with referral agents and government agencies are fostered and maintained.

5. Being available on weekends, evenings and taking responsibility for the on-call rotation as needed.

6. TFC Social Worker assists in recruiting appropriate foster care parents.

7. TFC Social Worker assists in training of foster parents when requested.

8. All other duties assigned by the clinical supervisor are carried out in a timely and effective manner.

Qualifications Education Qualifications

A Masters of Social Work with a concentration in clinical is preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations LMSW or LCSW-C Remote/Telework Eligibility

This position is telework/remote eligible by the terms outlined by the TFC Program Director.

TFC Social Worker will report to the McClean campus, located at 6802 McClean Blvd, Parkville, MD 21234.
