Overview:
Pembina U.S. Corporation is recruiting for an Instrumentation Technician to be based at the Aux Sable NGL Extraction and Fractionation Facility located in Morris (Channahon), Illinois. This position reports to the Day Foreman I/E in the Natural Gas Liquids business unit (NBU) part of Pembina's Facilities division.
The Natural Gas Liquids Business Unit (NBU) is involved in the Fractionation, Terminaling & Storage, and Logistics and Distribution of specification natural gas liquids throughout north America. Natural Gas Liquids are components of natural gas classified by weight and number of carbon atoms - Methane (C1), Ethane (C2), Propane (C3) Butane (C4) and Condensate (mixture of C5+). Fractionation involves separating the different products in an NGL mix out into Ethane, Propane and Butane.
The successful candidate will play an important role and directly impact the safety, function, and reliability of our plant control systems, as well as overall operations of our facility. You will be part of a diverse team working with plant operations, maintenance technicians, safety coordinators, engineers and contractors to ensure safe and reliable plant operation. Our Instrument Technicians are required to have a thorough understanding of safe work practices, troubleshooting, and maintenance of our process instrumentation and controls systems.
Responsibilities may include but not limited to: Perform preventive and predictive maintenance inspections using diagnostic tools and test equipment and make necessary corrections to maintain a safe and reliable controls system; Monitor controls and instrument equipment to ensure effective and efficient service; Conduct tests related to functional performance; Use schematics and drawings to support safe, environmentally friendly, reliable, and optimum plant operations; Disassemble, reassemble, calibrate, repair, and troubleshoot process control instrumentation, valves, etc; Troubleshoot instrumentation failures; Interact with a broad range of personnel including engineers, technicians, vendors, contractors and leadership; Support Pembina's safety culture of "Zero by Choice" and the "Life Saving Rules". Qualifications: High School diploma and Valid driver's license; Relevant training and experience in a related industry as an Instrument Tech. or an associate's degree in the I&E field; Knowledge of the NEC (National Electrical Code) and OSHA safety standards is a must; Extensive knowledge with Industrial Instrumentation and Controls in a gas plant environment; Working knowledge with measuring process levels, pressures, flows and temperatures; Familiarization of PLC and Distributed Controls Systems (DCS); Ability to comprehend P&IDs, electrical schematics, loop sheets and equipment manuals; Consistent application of all codes, regulations, reliability strategies, corporate and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) standards; MS Office Experience using Word, and Excel; Effective prioritization; time management and troubleshooting skills; Preventative and safety minded attitude; Team player who contributes to a positive work environment; Excellent decision making and critical thinking skills; and A high regard for personal safety and the safety of others.
The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. Final candidate may be required to undergo Pre-Employment Screening including a Background Check, Drug Screen (which includes testing for marijuana metabolites) and Fit for Duty Exam.
The successful candidate must live within 60 miles of the Aux Sable facility in Channahon.
