Trauma Therapist, Child and Adolescent and Adult Focus
Reports To: Director of Clinical Services
Position Summary: The Trauma Therapist is responsible for providing trauma informed individual and group therapeutic services to support children and adolescents who have experienced any kind of traumatic event. The Trauma Therapist has a productivity requirement of 80% and is expected to independently manage a case load to ensure that all clients receive timely services.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides therapy for child and adolescent exposed to any trauma
Works in collaboration with caregivers of children under 5 years old to problem solve; train caregivers on behavioral management techniques; provide one-on-one modeling and coaching; educate caregivers on childs mental health issues
Provides task supervision to interns in the therapeutic services program.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Provides services in the location most convenient to the client and family; this includes in the home, school, or community if needed
Works with the client and parent/caregiver as needed to obtain the desired social and emotional wellbeing and recovery through management of the issues that are caused by trauma.
Incorporates trauma-informed care philosophy, practices and strategies in all activities.
Employs strategies of intervention that are consistent with empirically supported treatments, are consistent with program expectations, and are culturally appropriate
Completes data collection, data entry and required reports and other related administrative paperwork in accordance with program timelines and standards.
Practices within professional areas of expertise and under the supervision of an independently licensed practitioner (if required).
Maintains productivity expectations, which may change based on the goals of the agency.
Effectively coordinates client care with other service providers and community resources to assure continuity of care.
Masters degree in Social Services, Counseling, Art Therapy and/or a related field, with valid Illinois license. LPC, LCPC, LSW, etc
Experience using evidence-based modes of therapy.
Willingness to work flexible evening and/or weekend hours; this schedule serves the purpose of meeting the needs of client and their families.
Experience:
2+ years direct clinical service with children, adolescents and adults who have experienced trauma in their lives.
