Who We Need The Vice President of Finance (VP of Finance) is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the financial operations and strategy of Copa Health. This role ensures financial sustainability, operational efficiency, and supports strategic initiatives in alignment with Copa Health's mission. The VP of Finance will provide critical financial leadership, managing budgets, financial reporting, and fiscal planning across the organization's diverse programs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Requires a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. MBA or CPA highly preferred.Minimum of 10 years of progressive financial management experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, preferably within the healthcare or non-profit sectors.Deep understanding of GAAP, financial regulations, and best practices in non-profit financial management.Proven experience in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting in a healthcare setting.Proficiency with financial management software (e.g., ERP systems) and advanced Excel skills.JOB SUMMARY (Including, but not limited to): Collaborate with the executive team to develop and execute financial strategies that support long-term organizational goals.Lead financial forecasting, budgeting, and long-range financial planning to ensure resource allocation aligns with Copa Health's strategic objectives.Serve as a financial advisor to the CFO, CEO, and Board of Directors, offering insights on the financial health of the organization.Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.Ensure compliance with GAAP, federal, state, and local regulations, as well as internal financial policies and procedures.Manage financial audits, internal controls, and compliance programs, addressing any issues that arise.Lead the preparation of annual budgets, providing guidance to department heads and program directors on budget management.Monitor and report on financial performance, including monthly financial statements, variance analysis, and cash flow projections.Prepare and present detailed financial reports and analysis to senior management and the Board of Directors.Oversee the financial management of grants, including budgeting, reporting, and compliance with grant requirements.Work closely with program leaders to ensure the financial viability of funded programs and identify opportunities for additional funding.Manage and mentor the finance team, ensuring strong financial acumen and continuous development of staff.Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence in financial management across the organization.Assess and mitigate financial risks to the organization, including management of reserves, investments, and liabilities.Ensure that the organization maintains adequate insurance coverage and other financial safeguards.Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and systems to drive efficiency, cost savings, and better decision-making.Work with IT and operational leaders to implement and manage financial technology solutions, such as ERP systems and financial software.Adherence to all agency policies, licensure, and training requirements.To ensure compliance & adequate services, additional job duties may be required to meet the needs of the program and or department.Copa Health is an Equal Opportunity Employer - All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristics protected by law.
