Job Description
The
Warehouse Technician
perform receipt, storage and shipment of raw materials and/or highly expensive and sensitive biological parenteral products. Carry out and assist in the coordination of the receipt of merchandise necessary for plant operations and product manufacturing. Provide the storage, dispatch and delivery service of materials to the different departments. Executes materials handling to support all warehouse functional areas including loading and unloading of hazardous materials. Receipt and packaging of syringes of parenteral biological product from the filling plant. Responsible for preparing shipment of raw material, samples, finished product (bulk drug substance (BDS) and Bulk Drug Product (BDP)) to AbbVie Manufacturing Plants, Contracted Plants (Third Party Manufacturers (TPMs)), external laboratories and centers of distribution. Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and standard procedures (SOPs)
Responsibilities
Perform and assist in the coordination of the unloading, receipt, verification, segregation, labeling, palletization, location, packaging, deliveries and/or storage of direct and indirect, miscellaneous materials (Maximo, MRO, Laboratory Supplies, Project Equipment), cells and final product. Communicate discrepancies related to materials and/or documents received. Archive documents of materials and merchandise received.
Perform and assist in the coordination of the packaging process for shipments and returns of direct and indirect materials, miscellaneous materials (Maximum, MRO, Laboratory Supplies, Project Equipment), cells (in containers using liquid nitrogen) and final product to suppliers, external laboratories, AbbVie manufacturing plants, AbbVie distribution centers or Contracted Manufacturing Plants (Third Party Manufacturers (TPMs)), domestic and international.
Coordinate and carry out dispatches or deliveries of direct and indirect materials and miscellaneous materials to manufacturing areas and support departments according to the current production schedule. Prepares shipping documentation and executes transactions in inventory control systems (SAP). Receives and locates returned materials from manufacturing areas. Performs the dispatch and installation/connection of cleaning chemical containers (i.g. CIP Totes).
Perform and assist in coordinating the destruction process of obsolete, rejected or expired materials. Provides assistance to operations in the control, management and disposal of household, biomedical and hazardous waste in their respective area as applicable, ensuring compliance with local and federal regulations following the procedures and policies of the plant, division and corporation.
Perform and assist the section manager in the training of new personnel. Attend and complete internally required training on occupational safety, transportation of hazardous materials and good manufacturing practices (cGMP, SARA, DOT, IATA and others). Use required personal protective equipment and notify supervisor of incidents or unsafe conditions in the work area. Carry out monthly safety inspections of facilities and equipment.
Monitor inventory levels and carry out the physical inventory count together with the accounting department. Responsible for the correct and safe handling, maintaining accuracy and control of the inventory of: Direct and Indirect Materials. Will inform the supervisor about any event that occurs during the work shift. Will review your documentation and that of others, ensuring it is correct and complete.
Maintain area of responsibility in accordance with good manufacturing practices (CGMPs) and safety. Responsible for compliance with AbbVie Policies, ABL plant procedures, and Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Financial Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) regulations and requirements. Perform required inventory transactions, either manually or electronically in a legible, error-free and timely manner.
Inspection of direct and indirect materials (durables & consumables), commodities and raw materials according to the procedure. Takes samples of received material in accordance with procedure and material specifications. Separate the material from the rejected materials.
Coordinate with the Purchasing, GTC and Traffic Department the claim and return of missing "Shortage", surplus "Overshipment" or damaged "Damage" merchandise. Investigate unpaid "rejected" invoices with the Purchasing and Accounts Payable Department for resolution.
Provide assistance to operations in accordance with environmental management, occupational health and safety (EHS) systems and promote continuous improvement. Comply with all EHS procedures and policies including incident reporting, use of PPE, waste management and disposal, and any other program applicable according to the position duties.

Keyboard use (greater or equal to 50% of the workday),
Lift, carry, push or pull weights of more than 20 pounds/9 kilos on a regular/daily basis,
Routine work with chemicals,
Work at heights, e.g. ladders, scaffolds, catwalks, etc.,
Work requiring repeated bending, stooping, squatting or kneeling
Qualifications
High School Diploma with 2 years of Warehouse experience in similar industry or Associate Degree with no experience required.
Experience driving and inspecting forklifts (gas electric or manual) and/or materials handling.
Knowledge of quality regulations and standards affecting chemical, biological or medical devices (i.e. FDA regulations, and EN46000). Knowledge of safety and OSHA regulations for corporations, local area and state. Basic knowledge of good manufacturing practices and safety regulations. Basic knowledge in the handling, identification, packaging of Hazardous Materials for transportation (i.e.49 CFR, IATA).
It requires working daily at temperatures of minus eighty degrees Celsius (-80º C), minus twenty degrees Celsius (-20º C), two to eight degrees Celsius (2-8º C) and fifteen to thirty degrees Celsius (15-30º C). Regularly carry out the packaging process of the "Bulk Drug Product (BDP)" in an area with a temperature of two to eight degrees Celsius (2-8º C).
The job requires using force to move materials between 20 to 45 lbs. Requires elevation from the floor to the knees and waist. Requires bending, climbing steps, working around and with others, working to a deadline/schedule, reaching forward and up, climbing stairs. Requires repetitive use of hands: simple grasping, pulling/pushing, and precise manipulation.
Basic math skills. Basic knowledge of computerized systems (SAP, Excel). Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish. Excellent interpersonal relationship skills. Handling heavy equipment.
Ability to work under minimal supervision in an environment of multiple and changing priorities, where the employee may be attending to more than one functional area and need to rotate from one area to another according to the needs of the moment without the need for the intervention of his or her supervisor.
Experience in handling potentially contaminating materials (Bio Hazardous), dangerous materials (e.g. Corrosives, Flammables) and chemicals in the receipt, dispatch and shipping process.
It requires the use of the following senses: short and long distance vision, peripheral and deep vision, listening normally, speaking in a loud voice, flexibility in fingers. Requires standing, walking, sitting on average 2.5 hours a day for each activity.
Availability to work the
Second Shift, weekends, overtime and holidays
according to business needs.
Previous experience in
Raw Materials sampling & comodities inspections
is preferred.
