The Youth Development (YD) Lead will support with the overall planning and development of Transitional Kindergarten (TK)-12th grade programming, including: supporting the oversight and execution of day-to-day TK-12th grade programming, and overseeing and coaching Department Program Assistants, interns and volunteers. They will support the YD Program Manager with program budget development and expenditure monitoring, as well as other administrative duties.

About the Youth Development Department:

The Youth Development Department's goal is to prepare youth in grades kindergarten through high school to be college and work ready. The department's programs include daily out of school time program activities for K-12 graders focusing on tutoring, homework support, life skills and enriching social/cultural activities, teen leadership development activities, career exploration and job placements.

Position Title: Youth Development Lead
Compensation: $28-30 hour DOE, Nonexempt; Full time, expected hours of work 37.5 hours per week

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

Lead Support (35%)

Staff Supervision and Development (25/35) Assist with the onboarding and supervision of all program assistants, volunteers, and interns to ensure effective and safe administration of after-school and summer programs. Assist in the facilitation of the regular K8 team meetings to increase collaboration, resource sharing, and program fidelity. Assist in maintaining a professional development training calendar as required by YD funders and the Southeast Asian Development Center (SEADC). Assist in planning the annual YD retreat and quarterly department bonding activities. Administrative (10/35) Develop annual program work-plans in collaboration with YD Program Manager. With the support of Program Manager, monitor and oversee project budgets for overall TK-12 DCYF and Mayor's Youth Employment and Education Program (MYEEP) programming. Coordinate with all YD staff to purchase program supplies and food. Support special events, field trips, and summer program planning for all TK-12 DCYF and MYEEP Programming. Compile and report on team client impact and stories as needed. Support in the recruitment of youth for after school and summer programming to reach participation targets. Attend external and internal events, trainings, and meetings as needed for the position. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Direct Client Support (65%) Develop and implement community-specific and culturally relevant curriculum focused on Identity, Job Readiness, Leadership, Academic Enrichment, and Health and Wellness. Conduct outreach and communication to youth, families, and schools to recruit and enroll participants into programs from TK-12th grade levels. Develops collaborative relationships with youth, families, school personnel, community partners and leaders, and other community-based organizations (CBOs) and stakeholders. Provide participants with internal and external referrals to other services and resources when necessary. Maintain up-to-date participant records, data, progress reports, evaluations, and other program-related documents. Support year-round activities including academic workshops and social and recreational outings, especially during school breaks and after school hours. Qualifications: Education Bachelor's degree required. Required Skills and Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience direct service work with youth from marginalized, underserved communities. Minimum 1 year of direct management/supervisor experience of volunteers, interns, or staff. Trained in Positive Youth Development Framework and Youth Program Quality Assessment Principles. Ability to effectively work independently and in a team setting with or without supervision. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with both youth and adults. Experience working with diverse youth from a range of backgrounds and circumstances. Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, performance-oriented environment. Adept at navigating different technologies: Proficiency with Microsoft 365 Office applications including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Experience with data entry and CRM systems, preferably Salesforce Familiarity with project management platforms and online communications platforms such as Teams Must have adaptability to adopt new software and technologies and participate in the development of new such systems Desired Skills and Experience: N/A Additional Qualities and Requirements: Passion for the organization's mission and values. Participation in events outside typical work hours/office: annual staff strategic planning offsite, annual staff social day, annual gala. Able to work outside of typical business hours as neede. Able to travel locally as needed. Pass fingerprinting background check and TB clearance before start date.
