The Position
The Accounting Supervisor is responsible to provide support and oversee the efficiency in the accounting department to accomplish with the company objectives.
Responsibilities
Manage full accounting cycle. Oversees Accounting operations, which include financial accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll.
Meets accounting financial standards by providing accounting department annual budget information, monitoring expenditures, identifying variances, and implementing corrective actions.
Complies with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed action.
Prepares payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements.
Oversee the reconciliation of general ledger accounts, including the creation of journal entries and reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
Assists in the preparation of periodic financial statements and the corporate monthly/annual report.
Ensures that financial reports comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards.
Supervises staff accountants and clerical staff to assure that the department accomplishes accounting objectives by selecting, onboarding, assigning, managing, and mentoring employees.
Assists external auditors and provides required statements and information for the annual audit.
Assists in the preparation of all corporate tax compliance.
Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
Control costs through material purchasing, negotiation of vendor contracts, and participation in on-site meetings
Identifies and recommends updates to accounting processes and procedures.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements and Skills
B.S. in Accounting/Finance, Master degree preferred.
3-5 years' experience in accounting or finance supervision
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, financial statements, and generally accepted methods of preparing and analyzing financial statements
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel (including Vlookup, pivot tables managing spreadsheets, creating charts and using advance formulas)
Proficient in QuickBooks or related accounting software.
Experience with Puerto Rico tax and regulatory requirements.
Experience with Dept de Hacienda's SURI system.
Fully Bilingual

Working Conditions/ Physical Activity:
Working a regular shift from Monday to Friday, with occasional extended hours.
Night shifts and weekends might be required
The employee may occasionally lift and move materials up to 15 pounds
